that list is wrong. Austin, Hurd, and Procter all signed 1-year tenders at $1.5 M.

Seems like we have a few people who are making a little to much money. Especially Barber, Hamlin, Newman and maybe Flozell...

What does everyone else think...

On the other hand Ratliff was a steal at that salary..

Newman has a pick that leads to a TD yesterday, but he is making to much? He is an above average CB and with the elite CB in Jenkins forming, we are golden.

Flozell & Hamlin can be replaced if we can find people on lower salary.

I think he has a huge bonus coming next season.

Frankly speaking, I didn't have him on my list of players that " should " be cut next off-season IF there's no cap, but his production has left me in doubt.

I'd like to see the salaries and cap hit ( if there's a cap ) for next season. That's a better list than what they made this year because this year is one week away from being history ( salary wise ).

Flozel Adams:

2/28/2008: Signed a six-year, $43.8 million contract. The deal contains $15 million in guarantees, including a $13 million signing bonus.

Base Salry
2009: $1 million
2010: $5 million
2011 through 2013: $5.1 million
2014: Free Agent

Cap charges:
$3.6 million (2009)
$7.6 million (2010)
$7.7 million (2011 through 2013)

Note: If there's no cap next year, I just don't see how the Cowboys can justify keeping him beyond this season. If they cut him, they would have basically payed him 15 millions to play 2 seasons, which is 7.5 per year, which is a reasonable figure at the time the contract was signed.

Marion Barber

5/20/2008: Signed a seven-year, $45 million contract. The deal contains $16 million guaranteed, including a $12 million signing bonus.

Base Salary
2009: $620,000,
2010: $3.86 million,
2011: $4.25 million,
2012: $5.75 million,
2013: $6.25 million,
2014: $7 million,
2015: Free Agent

Note: The Barbarian has a reasonable figure for the 2010 season, but the problems start after that year. There's no way he's a 5 million dollars a year RB anymore. We don't know how hard the next cap is going to be and although it would be a tough move, the Cowboys need to move on, again, if there's no cap.

Ken Hamlin

7/15/2008: Signed a six-year, $37.5 million contract. The deal contains $15 million guaranteed, including a $9 million signing bonus. Another $2 million is available through escalators in 2012 and 2013.

2009: $4.305 million,
2010: $5.596 million,
2011: $5 million,
2012: $6 million,
2013: $7 million,
2014: Free Agent.

Cap charges:
$5.805 million (2009)
$7.096 million (2010)
$6.5 million (2011)
$7.5 million (2012)
$8.5 million (2013)

Note: This one is easy. Forget about the escalators in '12 and '13. He's not worth his salary in '2010. I don't expect him to be a Cowboy next year if there's no cap.

Terrence Newman

5/20/2008: Signed a six-year, $50.2 million contract extension through 2014. The deal contains $22.5 million guaranteed, including a $12 million signing bonus.

2009: $895,000
2010: $9 million
2011: $8 million
2012: $6.016 million
2013: $7,600,417
2014: $7.5 million
2015: Free Agent

Note: I know that T-New has a lot of fans in this board, but, honestly speaking, do ANY of you really think he's a 10+ million dollars player in this league ? Put the emotions aside for a moment and take a look at that contract. I just don't see any way for the Cowboys to keep that contract IF they have a chance to dump it. This could be a cap killer ( Deion Sanders in the late '90's type contract) if/when the new cap is implemented.

Roy Williams

10/19/2008: Signed a six-year, $54 million contract. The deal contains $26.6085 million guaranteed.

2009: $3,655,900 (+ $10 million option bonus)
2010: $3,452,629 (+ $9.5 million option bonus)
2011: $5,109,971
2012: $6.802 million
2013: $8.498 million (Voidable Years),
2014: $9 million
2015: Free Agent

Note: Roy Williams forced his name into this list with his lack of production. I wonder if the Cowboys can get out of the " option bonus " ? If so, then they have to. Unlike Newman or Flo, he's still a relatively young player with potential, but just like them, he's not producing enough to keep him. Hell, a very good argument could be made that FLO and T-NEW are producing more than him. Even if the Cowboys cannot get out of the option bonus, they must seriously consider bitting the bullet like they did with T.O. and cut him.

The ever great Ian Whetstone has a site that's very helpful. May not be as accurate as Adam's since Ian does every single team in the NFL. Best salary cap guy on the internet, though.

Here's 2010 Cap info. SB= Signing bonus, RB= Roster Bonus. All numbers in millions of $$. Obviously the Cap hits only matter if there IS a cap, and also if we're against the cap.

Note also that some of these contracts are voidable and such, but not reflected that they will void-- like Marcus Spears, who will be a free agent since his '10 year is voided.

Great stuff. So Flo has a roster bonus in 2010 ?

Yep. Barber and Flo probably count as the two guys making new money next year that we may not want to pay. Hamlin has a pretty hefty base salary as well.

By the way, Roy williams is playing for that $9.5M bonus next year. He's cuttable if Jerry and co don't decide he's worthy. And thus far, I think we all agree he isn't. From Ian's notes:

PFT: In the latest example of how contract information gets inflated to make the player (and his agent) look better, we’re told that the contract signed last week by Cowboys receiver Roy Williams contained not $27 million in guaranteed money, but only (only?) $19.5 million. The difference in this one lies in the details. If an option bonus isn’t exercised, there’s a mandatory payment that pushes the guaranteed money to $27 million. If the option bonus is exercised, the guaranteed money drops to $19.5 million.

Eatman: Williams now has a six-year, $47.4 million extension that runs through the 2013 season that includes $27 million in guaranteed money. Williams will receive all of that $27 million over the next two calendar years, including a $10 million option bonus next March and another $9.5 million the following March.

Edit: Actually read it wrong. If we cut him next year he ends up getting more money in the short term. We will probably have him for at least another year.
