As you can see the offense remains largely the same. I added a RB of the future to backup McFadden in Howard, and I really think adding Gronk as a FB/TE could add another dimension to the offense if used correctly. With Escobar likely to miss a good portion of the year I think a 2nd TE is important. Dwayne Allen is a solid all around TE that could be brought in a cheap price.
The D is where a lot of changes happen. 1st, Carr takes a pay cut and we bring in Sean Smith at a reasonable deal because his age isn't ideal on the FA market. Church gets cut to allow Wilcox to slide over to his SS spot. Jones continues to develop as a FS/TE stopper. Scandrick coming back will be a huge boost to cover the slot. Wouldn't feel great about needing to get to the 4th CB as a starter, but gotta get something out of 1 of the young guys or use Jones as an emergency policy.
Naasib, Clayborn, and Reader would be a big boost to the D line over what Hardy, Mincey, and Hayden gave us last year imo. If Gregory can stay healthy and be at least a 3rd down pass rusher and Lawrence can take 1 more small step forward the pass rush could finally be a whole lot better. Reader as a big force in the middle along with the vet Sims(dirt cheap) is more than we've ever had at 1 tech under Rod and it would make a huge difference. Looks light at DT, but Clayborn, J Crawford and Russell can all kick inside and rush the passer on passing downs.
Jack represents a huge playmaker in the middle to create take aways and cover the middle of the field. The combo of Jack and Lee would be lethal against both the run and pass. Hitch plays the SAM and also backs up both the MLB and WIL. The rest of the LB corp is a little thin/young, but hopefully they won't be needed much besides as an occasional SAM/ST.
