Prevent is usually 3 man line, 1 LB and 7 DBs none of that is a 4-3.

We were in the NICKEL during those plays, 4-2-5, again not the 4-3.

FYI, almost all of our sacks and turnovers have come from that nickel defense, as well and NOT THE 3-4.

Call it whatever you want - its a prevent, passive non attack D we played trying to protect lead. 4 man front with no pressure. We have 3-4 sacks and 3-4 D put us into position to get a lot of those 3rd and long sacks.

Safeties deep and still toasted in the prevent in Washington game.

Funny what i saw last sunday was everybody backpelding anticpation pass to randy moss, and nobody at te LOS expect the DL, and big holes jor jordan to run through. Say what you want about the ILB, but they held LT to 72 yards on portis to 52 yards. our LB arent Ray lewis, and Trotter, but they get the job done.

Fair enough. I will be keeping a close eye on the inside backers for now on, and see if they ever tackle a running back behind the LOS. I am just not going to hold my breath for that to happen.

And many of the supposed experts on this board thought that "more sacks" would "cure" our ills on defense... guess what?

It's not about the sacks, it's about consistent pressure. And before you go spin doctoring the phrase "Consistent pressure" I am NOT saying we have to get great pressure every play.

Yet again you over simplify it. Then again, anything more then "Simple" when it comes to football is way over your head.

Funny we blitzed 3 out of 5 plays before the first TD, we suddenly became passive just when the CB blew the coverage.

Typical.

It was the same freaking defense that we had been kicking their *** in for the other 55 minutes.

FYI, it was your boy Shanle that set up the comeback by missing the tackle on Brunell on 3rd and forever, but I don't see you bringing that up constantly.

in my most humble opinion, both sides, the pro-sack/INT guys, and sacks aren't everything guys, are right on this issue, yet our D is bad because they're doing one example of a good D, not both

I find it funny that it doesn't take much for you guys to pick and choose sides, and spar to the death, on here, can't we just all get along? lol

We have a good DL. but OK LBs at this point. LB is what makes the 3-4 great.
Fujita- hoping he comes along
Ware- hoping he comes along
Burnett- hoping he comes along.
Dat- solid but small
Shanle- solid but smaller.

Fact is, our DL is now set, but the key to this D is the LBs and we are just not their yet.

2-2 is good at this point. We should have won Wash, but got SF and SD. Oakland was winable. We've been in all the games. This team will be really good in a little bit of time. If we can be at or above .500 at the Bye Week, we can be very dangerous. The defense is showing promise. Once guys like Ware start playing more consistantly, we will be a force.

Philly will be a good test. If we win, great. But if we at least make it a good ballgame, this team will have alot to build on. You're never happy to be playing a good team, cuz you want wins, but hopefully our team will step it up.
