I really didn't have one this year but I hope Jackson makes the team.
nah - pet cats are fun. unreasonable people do the other thing but let's not rope all into that.
Hate to bust your bubble, but I've never seen a player more lost on an NFL field. Totally raw.
He has no chance, and no team will claim him. Practice squad at best.
Pet cat is Jackson and maybe Okoye. Others like Brown are already locks.i was high on Dak when we drafted him. Pretty sure he'll make the roster. I'm interested if Frazier showed enough to take a spot from everyone's favorite JJ Wilcox.
Will your pet cat make the cut?
I could see Rico as the surprise "keep" for the 53.Rico might just make the team as the 4th TE. I think he might be ready in about 6-8 more weeks for some game action. That combination of height, weight, speed, and ability are worth taking time to develop. I'm hoping he does. Witten, Escobar, Swaim, and Rico. Traylor to the PS.
Most teams carry a couple of players each season that have no chance to contribute that season. Only 46 players are active for games.I think some people don't realize that any team that claims him will have to put Gathers on their 53 man roster and they will have very limited film of him and he will have no knowledge of their system what so ever. Now, would it be unheard of if he decided to join another team's practice squad, no, but he will not be claimed by anyone.

Many teams will sign a player that was cut because that player was on their draft board. They often don't keep them long.
The Cowboys carried Darion Weems on the 53 all of 2013 and 2014 as an inactive developmental player. He had no chance to be active in 2013 and probably not in 2014.I'll give you what ever terms you want, no one is claiming him to their 53. We cut Jackson or even Frazier, yea, I can see, because they *could* contribute in case of injury, which is why I want to keep both. Gathers literally offers nothing for 2016, as a blocker, receiver or special teams.
And with that being said, I like him, not upset we drafted him, and I hope he develops into something in the future, but he isn't worth a roster spot.

I think Ezekiel Elliot has shown enough to earn a roster spot, but I guess we won't know until tomorrow

My point is that they were not going to play Weems back then. In prior years they didn't keep a 4th OT. They would have signed a veteran street FA if something happened to their OTs.Weems would have been a lot better if forced into action due to injury as opposed to Gathers. Weems while not a quality back up, at least was at least a 20 game starter or so at Oregon. He didn't have the athletic ability to play OT imo, but Gathers literally is at ground zero as far as knowledge of how to play his position.

They signed Charles Brown during the 2015 season to replace Weems as the 3rd OT. Weems was active 1 game for the Cowboys. This is where we disagree then, I think if multiple OTs ahead of Weems went down, they would have signed an OT off the street, but I think he would have seen game action. Not like there are quality OTs just waiting out there mid season to be signed. He knew the playbook and I don't think as bad as Weems would have been, a random vet that was unsigned around week 7 would have been better coming off less than a week of practice.
I think there are many TEs who would preform better than Gathers given less than a week of practice.
