Not a top ten but ones I like...it must be noted I have not bought any new death metal cds in years so this is mostly stuff from the 90s.

Cause of Death
The End Complete
World Demise - All by Obituary

Individual Thought Patterns - Death (great guitar work)

Alters of Madness
Covenant
Blessed are the Sick - all by Morbid Angel

Deicide
Legion
Once upon the cross - All by Deicide

Vile - Cannibal Corpse

Haunted
Warpath
Maximum Violence - all by Six Feet Under

Arise
Chaos AD - Both by Sepultura

ANYTHING by Slayer

Death Metal is not music....

I'm not quite sure what it is, but its not music

To those that don't know it may not be.

But there are a few guitarist that are flat out amazing in the genre...they will just never get the recognition because of the genre.

trey azagthoth of morbid angel is a great guitarist and the late Chuck Schuldiner was flat out amazing.

Unlike many in rap...these guys can actually play an instrument not called a turn table or drum machine.

Don't get me wrong, I don't consider rap music either. It's talking to a beat.

And I'm not saying the people playing the instruments arent amazing at what they do, I'm saying when its put together, it just sounds like a big boom and gives me a headache.
