1. I think I would fire Jason Garrett at season's end but I also think Jerry was smart last year to try and poach Sean Payton on the down low then punt a year when that failed. Jason has been very bleh and uninspiring but he's probably the 4th or 5th best coach we've ever had in Dallas. I lived through the Campo era so when people saying the coaching sucks I know what that actually means.

2. I think Amari Cooper is playing around 70%. You don't go from toasting people by 5-7 yards every play to this without serious health concerns.

3. I think it would be nice to see Sean Lee and Jason Witten ride off into better sunsets than their former mates. But they do need to hang them up here at season's end.

4. I think the stats and analytics guys can learn a lot from this season about actual football games, lol. When DAL plays bully ball and runs it over folks they can also pass it successfully and win games. Passing is the most important part of any offense but it's not efficient to just pass it. Great coaches can find psuedo run games without actual rushing attacks but those screens and shovel passes exist for a reason. Drop back passing into dime is about as futile as it gets.

5. I think coaching sweethearts sure do seem to burn out fast. Pederson can't seem to develop Wentz and he can't beat Garrett. Boy Wonder McVay pantsed Garrett last year but with the season on the line a year later he was given a major wedgie.

6. I think anyone pretending they have any idea what Dallas will do week to week at this point has a deLorean.

7. I think Antwaan Woods is very important. DAL wants to stop the run then let the defense shut down the pass. If they can't stop the run they can't stop either.

8. I think DAL better be ready for RBs and TEs catching passes because Philly doesn't have any WRs left other than Ward. Pretty shocked they havent added Dez or AB.

9. I think this team was smart to keep its draft picks and not sell out for Jamal Adams. We'd no doubt be far better but the Jets implosion should keep lowering th eprice and htis team is now in need of young, cheap talent after some bad recent misses.

10. I think I am OK no matter what happens the next few weeks.

Like your 10 things, couple of them stand out to me.
2. Been saying for awhile now that he is way more hurt than people are giving him credit for. 70% sounds about right, probably with multiple injuries, not just the planter fasciitis.
7. My old favorite ! I think Woods is good, and shows you need a big man inside. Imagine a Woods type player, but instead of an undrafted big man, a talented 1st rounder who would add so much more to the line.
9. Agreed, if we do turn over the coaching staff after the season we will need every pick we can get to flesh out the roster. And they will have to dip into free agency as well. Would have loved to get Adams, but the price is way too high.
(I'll add one of my own)
#. I believe we need to build our D-line now, like we built our O-line. We have enough depth on the O-line with the 2 Conner's, and all the Guard/tackles we have. We will lose a few, but think we should be good. On D, Hill has been such a disappointment to me. People in the Dallas area, do you hear any stories/whispers etc. from local writers, liquor store guys about what the hell is going on ? Is it just that he needs more functional strength ? Like Williams at LG, we all knew he would need to bulk up in his first off season - but at least he played. Hill has been a healthy scratch more times than on the field. But like San Fran has done, we will need to commit multiple high draft picks to building the Defensive front, and a extra LBer or 2.

Hill is a weird personality. He plays hard but he doesnt show up on time and he pouts. He isn't a grinder in week. See master of pouting Taco for how Rod feels about that. We should see Hill post Rod and get a better idea of where he is but he definitly needs to add strength.
We judge draftees wayyyy too quickly and likely gave up on Taco too quickly. Taco would be better thna Bennett imho. At least he didnt repeatedly line up wayyyy offsides begging refs to call it.

My 70% is pure out of air stuiff but he is not right. You can see it when he breathes lol much less runs. When you have na injury like plantar fasc it often leads to other injuries as you try to compensate.

Agreed totally on needing picks. To me even if this staff somehow survuved in tact (seems heinously doubtful even if JG gets extended) they still need all the young cheap bodies they can get with all these guys hitting max contract land. Jamal would solve our SS woes but be another guy on a max and also removing 2-3 young, cheap bodies.

Ask the Eagles how rosters look shortly after pushing all those chips in to go win a title.

Great points all and I couldn't argue with a single one of them.

Elaborating on #4, I sincerely hope that Moore learned something in this game about sticking with the run game. I felt he'd been abandoning it far too soon for weeks now, overreacting to the Vikings game in particular. I saw a commitment in this game and hopefully that wasn't strictly tied to the score. Heck, we even saw some rushing attempts in 3rd and 4th down! Crazy I know!

Playing "bully ball" and trying to establish the run at all cost has been this team's biggest problem this year.

It's a passing league, it's a passing offense. That's how it has to be.

That "bully ball" would've of beaten the Pats as it did to the Rams this past Sunday. Problem was, Dallas didn't stick with it in the 3rd when 90million was getting heated up.

It is still and EXECUTION LEAGUE. And when the players execute like they did against the Rams and Eagles this season. It works.

I am all for the passing league deal as well. That hurts when your #1 WR is not playing 100%. Go with the strengths.

They won with the passing game against the Rams and Eagles.

The only reason they lost to the Pats was the weather.

They abandon it all too quickly, especially if the defense struggles early and we're behind. And that abandoning it shortens our own time of possession, gets away from strengths and what's working, and keeps that beleaguered defense on the field more. It snowballs.

I wonder if someone had a long talk with Moore about the running game. Get back to the basic reasons behind a successful running game.
Garrett, several other coaches. Heck someone from the outside like Aikman as well.

Just a Tuesday morning 2nd cup of coffee type of thought. Maybe I need that 3rd cup. :muttley:

Maybe he figured it out for himself? I can't imagine that Garrett could have told him anything when it comes to the running game. Nobody has done a worse job in handling it than Garrett himself.

Agree, as I threw Garrett in there as a joke, but forgot the laughing emoji.

Guess I do need that 3rd cup.

As far as Jason and Sean. If they don’t play, we don’t win. Amari Cooper. Gallup is the one that took a step backwards. That takes away from Cooper‘s game. Everything else you mentioned in my opinion is just speculation. And I suspect we destroy the Eagles. And that’s all I care about right now

Defensive tackle, defensive tackle, defensive tackle, screw the technique Antwaun Woods was the major reason why our defense played so well. And Ezekiel Elliott stepped up his game. Those are facts

Meh. To each their own. I watched a RB and OL starting to take over the game and they didn't stick with it.

Maher didn't help either.

First down runs put them constantly behind the sticks. Zeke had 11 carries on 1st and 10. 5 of them went for 3 or fewer yards. That kills drives. You can't run the ball on 2nd and 9. Passing opportunities were there, but weather killed it. The only drive where they consistently moved the chains with the run was in the 2nd quarter. The Pats defense adjusted on the very next drive, and the run didn't work again.

Maher was 3/4 kicking in a tsunami. Hardly the problem.

Amari Cooper said last thursday that he is as healthy as he has been since training camp going into the rams game.

Not sure why there is so much angst towards lee and witten it seems very misplaced.
