NFC: Dallas Cowboys 40, Minnesota Vikings 15
1 2 3 4 Total
Vikings 0 0 7 8 15
Cowboys 7 23 7 3 40

at Texas Stadium, Irving, Texas

* Game time: 4:00 p.m. EST/3:00 p.m. CST
* Game weather: 69 °F (clear)
* TV announcers (ABC): Al Michaels, Frank Gifford, and Dan Dierdorf

The Cowboys scored 23 points off of 5 Vikings turnovers. Perhaps the turning point of the game occurred in the first quarter after Dallas took the early 7-0 lead with quarterback Troy Aikman's 2-yard touchdown run. Minnesota running back Amp Lee caught a short pass from quarterback Brad Johnson and appeared to be on his way for a 43-yard touchdown. But Cowboys safety George Teague caught up with Lee at the 1-yard line and poked the ball out of his hands, and it ball bounced in and out of the end zone for a touchback. Teague later scored on a 27-yard interception return, running back Emmitt Smith ran for two touchdowns from 37 and 1 yard out, and kicker Chris Boniol made 4 field goals. Johnson threw a 30-yard touchdown to wide receiver Cris Carter and ran for another, but it was not enough.

* Scoring
o DAL - Aikman 2 run (Boniol kick)
o DAL - FG Boniol 28
o DAL - E. Smith 37 run (Boniol kick)
o DAL - Teague 29 interception return (Boniol kick)
o DAL - FG Boniol 31
o DAL - FG Boniol 22
o MIN - Carter 30 pass from B. Johnson (Sisson kick)
o DAL - E. Smith 1 run (Boniol kick)
o DAL - FG Boniol 25
o MIN - B. Johnson 5 run (Carter pass from B. Johnson)

Great memories.... Didn't realize how good we had it....

"Emmitt Smith ran for two touchdowns from 37 and 1 yard out"

Wish our starting back could actually run a few off these days.... I wish we had a starting back that defenses feared....

Eh, we're good, not great. Julius is barely good at this point, so the holes they are opening, he isn't hitting.

One thing I will take as encouragement from the season so far, is the play of the left side of our Oline. Julius' runs to the left have increased by nearly a yard and a half from last year, with Kosier in there.

I still dont think its good...when you cant move the pile enough to gain two feet vs a bad run defense, your OL has issues...Barber (who everyone thinks is great at this) had 3 runs from 2ft out, didnt get in

now either he sux (which so many dont believe) or the OL is bad

the fact is we didnt have much success at all running vs the 3 or 4 worst run defenses we faced all year...some of it I think is the OL coaching (like the rest of our coaches, I think Sporano is mediocre to poor) and some of it is poor run designs too, but no matter what you call it isnt still poor OL play ultimately

Every team in the NFL has been able to push the Colts around and run the ball down their throats, except Dallas. The Oline is below average when it comes to run blocking in my opinion.

BUT then this O line is much less of an O line then JJ or MB3 is compared to Emmitt. this O line is about a 40 on a scale of 100 as regards run blocking;
Emmitts O line in 96 was about a 85. Down from the 95 it was at its peak.
Say Emmitt is 100; JJ and Mb3 are about 80.
