I can't believe that the children today don't have any idea just what an impact Bob Hayes had on the game. (Some may have heard me say this before) He singlehandedly changed the way defense is played in the NFL because NO ONE could cover him one-on-one. He belongs in ANY discussion of all time great football players.

Larry Allen was a great player. One of the most awesome physical specimens to ever play the game. But he did not have the impact on the game that Bob Hayes had. No momentous changes were ever made to stop what he did.

But such changes WERE made to stop Bob Hayes. He introduced the NFL to a dimension of speed that they had never seen before. And he wasn't just a really fast guy who decided to play football...He was a football player who happened to have world class speed and he was the first of his kind in the NFL.

Brag on the players that you actually remember seeing play all you want. But don't discount the greats of the past just because you are too young to even remember them.

I can go with Lilly and White being ahead of Allen, although I would put Allen in the neighborhood of White. Not Renfro and Hayes though.

As for Hayes, your argument about teams having to create zone defenses to stop him is valid, but in the end you have to recognize that Hayes was not a great WR. He was just fast.

But instead, he has 3 super bowl rings.

Back in 1995 we have a 50-50 split run pass ratio and we were unstoppable.

The reason Troy was so good was because of play action pass. Run to setup the pass.

To think Garrett saw all of this but can't seem to remember the success.

I'll bet you Romo would give up all of his Cowboys passing records for a ring.

He deserves to be much higher... His accuracy was ridiculous and in the play-offs he was so precise it was unbelievable. The guy put it where only his receiver could get it. He was a leader and a winner...
