NBC showed the graphic about consecutive games to start a season with at least 100 yards rushing and 1 TD. If Murray does it tomorrow, he's tied for most all time with 5. Since it's a stat I'd never heard of, but really liked, I wondered who had the most such games over the course of a season.

Season
11 Smith, Dal 1995
11 Alexander, Sea 2005
10 Anderson, Atl 1998

9 Campbell, Hou 1979
9 Davis, Den 1998
9 Johnson, KC 2005
9 Tomlinson SD 2006

bold = Super Bowl season for that player's team.

So Murry would tie the record to consecutive, but the numbers above are for total (non-consecutive) in a season?

11 Smith, Dal 1995
11 Alexander, Sea 2005
10 Anderson, Atl 1998

9 Campbell, Hou 1979

Actually, Brown did it the first 6 games of the 1958 season. But he only did it in two more games the rest of that season, to finish with 8 such games (which projects to 10 in a 16-game season).

So the three guys with the most such games were all playing for the championship at the end of the season.

And wasn't that pre-merger so it's not included in the record books?

I had overlooked it because the pre-1960 stats are still a patchwork. But by 1958, the Browns were already a part of the NFL, so that's the record.

That 41-1 stat blows me away though.

Percival, what is the NFL record for consecutive 100/1 games for a back without it having to start from week 1?

Pretty amazing that 4 of 7 of those teams participated in a Super Bowl.

Kind of telling.

And for there to be two guys on there from the 2005 season, that's pretty cool.

With some further digging, (and thanks to Emperor) I found that the only loss in the 41-1 was with Bledsoe at QB.

That means that, with Romo, when the Cowboys get
at least one rushing TD and
at least one passing TD and
hold the opponent to 24 points or less...

they are 37-0.

The rest of the league is 997-133-2 (.885) over the same span.

With Romo, when Dallas simply gets 100+ yards rushing as a team, and holds the opponent under 30 points, the record is 43-5. IOW, we've won 90% of those games.

When the rest of the league does it, they've won 74% of their games over that span.

Potentially, we are concocting one lethal cocktail for the rest of the NFL.

Just did a quick check of some of the above names. History suggest Murray is in for a big season.

Smith, Dal 1995 = 1773 yds NFC Championship
Davis, Den 1998 = 2008 yds, 21 TD's and Superbowl
Campbell, Hou 1979 =1697 yds 19 TD's
Alexander, Sea 2005 = 1880 yds I think a rushing tittle
Johnson KC 2005 = 1750 yds 20 TD's
Tomlinson, SD 2006 = 1815 yds 28 TD's +over 2000 all purpose yards

Tomlinson did it 8 games in a row in 2006. Chargers were 8-0 in those games, with Rivers going over 30 attempts only twice.
