Said that pace was faster, in practices with players in full pads sending a message to the players its time to get serious, while sending that subtle message.

If players made a mistake, first time got away with it so to speak, but jason garrett had the players keep working on the mistakes till they got it right. Mickey was asked especially on offense, why didnt jason fix that in practices when jason was offensive coordinator. Mickey eluded to the fact, when another head coach wants you to do it his way, you do it that way. So Jason probably didnt feel secure in doing something he felt needed to be done, but that wade wanted things done his way. (Eluding to the fact that wade maybe didnt fix errors in practice as reported before on this board, kinda liike ware said, when mistakes were made, you waited till film study or the next day to fix those mistakes).

Now though jason has the players doing it right, till they get it down pat. No more mistakes repeated without fixing anymore in practice.

The players were also hustling to other parts of the field to continue in other areas, but not like in times past where the players would walk to another part of the field. That jason garrett has the players running at a fast tempo in practices.

If some of you listened to the post audio file of jason's interview, and shortly after, they had ware on. Ware said when he walked into the facility, ware said something like Oh, Man, when he saw in big red letters on the board Full Pads!

The players are seeing that no more fooling around, or langing around in practice, that you had better get your game on, in practice, film study, at home etc....

Sounds good to me zoners, just have to wait and see what happens.

P.S. Jerry Jones will be on 1053thefan tomorrow morning sometime if you want to listen to what jerry says.

I am a big Garrett skeptic but he is doing all he possibly can.

I applaud these actions 100%.

While I wish he would have done more as OC I can't a single move he's made thus far as the HC.

I could care less about developing a man crush over his press conference technique but these actual football changes are truly meaningful.

Guess we'll see if it makes much difference over the long run. I hope they win this weekend (like always).

Well, that explains why the Cowboys could never execute. They never fixed a problem they saw in practice until the next day when it was no longer fresh in their minds. Always a day late and a dollar short.

Excellent job Wade.

Jerry Jones must be self-conflicted here. On the one hand, he desperately wants to win, on the other hand, if Garrett is extremely successful in making these underachievers play, Jerry is going to look stupid for keeping Wade so long. It would be better for his ego if the team continued to lose. Not only would it deflect criticism for standing by Wade, it would keep the media focused on Jerry as he goes through the Head Coach search. But, he wants to win......but he doesn't want to look stupid.....but, he wants to win....but he wants the world to know he's a "football man".....but, he wants to win....damn Jimmy Johnson!....but, he wants to win.....

Now this sounds like Jason actually learned something from my man Jimmy Johnson. This type of practice has Jimmy and Saban written all over it!!

I've been skeptical and critical of Red but I LOVE this approach!! I hope he can be judged fairly in these last 8 games seeing that we are without Romo. It won't be so much about the W-L record as seeing what kind of effort and intensity and attention to detail that this team plays with over the next 2 months.

Imagine if let's say they go 5-3,6-2 (not realistic) but let's say they do, Jerry is going to bounce his head off the wall second guessing himself about not making the change sooner.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Again, not very realistic, I expect more of a 3-5, 2-6 stretch...but one can hope!!!

that sounds pretty lame to me. Come on....if Garret felt it so critical, especially in his unit, he couldn't have challenged Wade to focus on and fix mistakes? That excuse doesn't sit right with me and anyone worth his salt should be confident enough to challenge a system, especially one that wasn't working.

despite everything, Jason was kind of groomed to be in this position. When he was the back up QB of the cowboys, Aikman often referred to him as a coach/player on the sideline and would sound off stuff with him.

there is nothing wrong with his offensive schemes, as vela and his staff have disected many of his plays.

although he is still growing as a play caller, but so did Sean Peyton.

I think garrett also learned under Jimmy Johnson on how to run a team and saw how effective it is.

we also now know how over rated and talent less some part of the team are, ,like OL, MLB, Saftey.

look at the pats with their OL and a no Name RB and no name WRs succeeding. see Indy, with all their WR injuries and no RBs, same with NO, and Giants offensive Juggernaut now that they have some viable WRs., etc.

its not about the WRs or RBs. its about QB and OL play.

I watched highlights of Giants this past weekend and it was amazing to see the OL had a 3 yard push down field and bradshaw had multiple holes to pick and cut.

I watched dallas and the defense was 3 yards into our back field.

I honestly cannot believe how incompetent Wade Phillips is.

How the hell he kept his job for so long is a mystery.

I have coached for close to 20 years, some as the HC and some as an assistant.

Two different roles, and I was two different coaches while in them.

When I was the HC, I ran the show down to every detail, and I wanted it done my way since my name was on the line.

Conversely when I was an assistant, I did things the way the HC wanted them done.

Oh sure I made suggestions when I was an assistant, and listened to them when I was the HC.

But a good assistant does not try to override the HC.

I once let an assistant change my mind about a player before a game. It was not a bad decision, but it wasn't my decision. It backfired and I swore that would never happen again.

If I have to live with a mistake, I want it to be my mistake.

I will judge Garrett from the moment he was named HC, and not while he was an assistant.
