Takin' my first stab at a mock draft. In this scenario we sign/extend Dak AND Aldon. Chicago wants to trade up to 5 for a QB and offers their 1st, 2nd and 4th round picks.

13 - Patrick Surtain (CB)
37 - Sam Cosmi (OT)
45 - Cameron McGrone (LB)
69 - Tyler Shelvin (NT)
101 - Caden Sterns (S)

Good players. I don't think this makes the team much better overall, but depending on what they can do in FA this isn't a bad haul.

McGrone is easily my favorite pick in this group, but I kind of don't think he'll make it to the third.

I think we’ll have to be active in FA bc I’m not expecting a rookie class to come in and fix the defense. That being said I think this gives us some good young players that will get us trending upwards over the next few years.

We’re actually using the 2nd rounder from Chicago to get McGrone. He’s a fun watch...not getting talked about a lot now but I think he’ll get a lot of buzz leading up to the draft and will likely blow up the combine.

No way I would Knock the draft.
But if Zaven Collins LB\DE Tulsa is there at 37 he would be the pick.
And if thats the case Walker Little at 45

Rule #1 of draft underclassmen.

Never ever believe a player on whether or not they are returning until their season is over.

Im fairly sure he’s coming out this year. I hope so, in a very limited LBr class I think he’s a stud and one of the best.

I expect this kind of draft and I expect us to suck again as well as be very boring.

I wasn't taking a shot at your draft or anything. It's fine. Lackluster but fine.

I'm just busting chops...what would make it more exciting for you?

I'm trying to keep it as realistic as possible while maximizing value, need and ending contracts.

There is really nothing. I just feel the whole franchise is stuck in a rut and doing everything "realistic" is just a 1 way ticket to mediocrity.

Dallas needs to blow this thing up. They aren't close to being a champion and they're about to lock down a roster not capable of doing anything.

The team has hit it's peak. They're on a downward trend. Our solution every year is going to be get healthy and rookies.

I just hate where we are at.

Ahhhh...I gotcha. I actually think we're closer than some might think.

If we re-sign Dak and the OL gets back healthy next year we have an elite, top 5 offense IMO. I'm not sure about Nolan, but I like the new aggressive style McCarthy has brought to the table so he I'm not going to knock him for an off year killed by injury and no preseason.

If we can just get the defense to be AVERAGE we can mop up the division next week and make a playoff run.

I think the players you have added. However I think at 13 you are looking more at Horn or Kendrick. Surtain will probably be gone.

Was gonna knock you for the trade comp. I was thinking a 2022 #1 would be fairer comp. However, I forgot that a 2021 #2 = a 2022 #1 as far as trade compensation. With that being said, which would you prefer? A 2021 #2 or a 2022 #1?

As “elite” as our offense is they are slow starters and very mistake prone.

I don’t know what our 2016 numbers were but that offense was dangerous.

Now days I feel like the offense is just built for Fantasy Football and not championships.

In other words.. Dallas offense is overrated and lacks real substance.

On the macro level it’s great but you start to break it down and it’s a disgusting mess.

I think they do need to clean up the turnovers and start better but they were putting up around 30 PPG with a banged up line early in the season. I'm not overly concerned about the O and do think if the D can be more competitive this team will mop up the division next year.

Appreciate the work, but I'm not a fan of this class. I think both T/LB are needs, but they are below the priority ones. Team needs to a lot of help in their secondary with some many fa's, it doesn't do enough.
