13-3 to 2-3 - thoughts

Disappointed in the start but sure not ready to throw in the towel.
Defense has got to improve and should since they are young and gaining valuable playing experience.
Really disappointed in coaching at times.

We’ve lost as many games in 5 games as we did the entire regular season last year. Think about that.

It really puts in perspective how important it is to capitalize on the years like 2016, 2014 and 2007. It makes those heartbreaking playoff losses sting that much worse, because we really don’t know when we’ll get to that point of dominance again.

Do I think the season is a wash entirely? No. However, it’s difficult enough for us to win in the post season with a top seed let alone when are scrambling for a wild card spot. And does anyone realistically think this defense can hang with the top teams in the NFL? Get real.

Last year was a fun ride. Bummed this team can’t seem to find a recipe to keep success going.

At the end of the season in 2016 we were not playing well. Some thought the Eagles were playing better at the end of last season. We peaked early and did not seem to be the same team after the Vikings game.
Then we lost two OL and almost our entire back 4 on D. We allowed our NT type guy to leave in McClain. We drafted late in the draft and took a guy that right now is not helping. We obviously lack talent on D, and seem to on a plateau and sliding backwards. You take steps forward by improving talent. We took a net step backwards. Our middle linebacker is playing on one leg. If we truly depend on an injury prone 30 y/o LB to coach our D, and absolutely cannot function well without him, we are hitting our heads on a glass ceiling. Our vaunted personnel department needs to find us some better players. Simple.

The offense is right there, but the front office has refused to spend money in the offseason.

It’s unbelievable. How do you take a young team full of potential and make them worse in the offseason? We had the tools, we just needed to tweak things. Now it’s looking like we are a few years out.

Our coaching staff puts our players in a position to fail more times than not. Just look at what Carr, Clairborne and Church did today for their teams.

I can almost guarantee that Marinelli is done. Jones will not put up with this...Stephen that is...

The coaching was excellent. Garrett had the team go for it on three fourth downs and we made all three. The offense was on fire.

All in all we played a good game, but the story has been the same as it has for the last five games. We can't stop the run. Until we can stop the run, we're not going to win in this league.

We squandered that in the NFC divisional playoffs, but that is another story.

Meanwhile, we enter this year.

We think we are better than we are.

We think Prescott can be Romo.

We forget what made our season last year was keeping this defense off the field.

We keep doing the same insane garbage defensively.

That is what gets you to this state.

The talent on defense has a lot to do with it. Stopping the run is basically beat your man and we get no penetration. That’s a talent problem.
