I don't know how anyone feels about this, but I am 100% against this move. Yes, I love football and hate to see the season end, but just because it is the number one sport doesn't mean you have to ruin it in the name of greed.
If we get an 18 game schedule there are a number of changes that are going to occur. Number one, who goes to the SB may not be the best team, but the team with the best depth. Football is a tough sport and even going from 14 to 16 games you can see the increase in injuries. To 18, you better have a good backup QB, and the rest of the crew.
So what does this mean for the draft -- are you drafting for the best player, or are you drafting for depth??? Do we really want to see a SB with a team with the best depth??? Not me.
And in addition, when are these extra games going to be played??? In the winter??? During August??? Does that require every team to put up a dome in order to play in "normal" conditions. I sure would not want to go to a game in Tampa in August (not that I would go). Are you kidding me??? Or a game in Green Bay in late January.
What happens is going to happen -- but if it does, I sure hope the players get a good piece of that pie -- they are the ones on the field getting the injuries.
