I was at this game, it was just brutal. White went out with a bad wrist injury (he was never the same again), and to pour salt in the wound, Pelleur hit two big passes late in the game that were called back; both would’ve put us at least in FG range. And to make *that* worse, George Martin bragged after the game about suckering the refs into making those two holding calls on poor ol’ Phil Pozderac.

I hated that year.

I have an old tape cassette somewhere of Tex Schramm talking to Brad Sham on the Tex Schramm Show on the old KRLD AM a few days after that game. You could hear in Tex’s voice that he knew the season was over, even though he tried to make it clear it wasn’t.
