My friend has just given me a bag of VHS tapes containing every single regular season and playoff game of the COWBOYS' 93 & '94 seasons--the 93 season ending with XXVIII victory and 94 ending at Candlestick by 10 after spotting the Vaginers 21 pts.

So, I'll be an encoding fool here soon. Stargazer, if there are any games in that period you want or don't have, let me know and we can arrange that I can get them to you, if you'd like. PM me if you're interested, Stargazer. Anyone else, just post here if there's a particular game you'd like to see get encoded.

My friend even cut out the stats from the newspaper and taped them on the VHS cover for each game.

I'll tell you the ones for sure I'm going to encode first:
'93

Obviouslythe two playoff games:
  • Dallas Cowboys 27, Green Bay Packers 17 div rnd w
  • Dallas Cowboys 38, San Francisco 49ers 21 NFC Champs
and:
  • Miami Dolphins L 14 -16 in the sleet
  • Philadelphia Eagles W 23-17
  • at Minnesota Vikings W 37-20
  • Green Bay Packers W 36-14
  • San Francisco 49ers W 26-17
Previously, I've gotten the 93 season finale vs. the Giants (W 16-13 OT #22 w/separated shoulder) encoded by Stargazer, as well as Super Bowl XXVIII.

'94
  • Detroit Lions L 17-20
(MNF, 1st ever throwback uniform weekend, Barry Sanders; I went to this game, too)
  • Philadelphia Eagles W 24-13
  • at Arizona Cardinals W 28-21
  • at Cincinnati Bengals W 23-20
  • at San Francisco 49ers L 14 21
  • Green Bay Packers W 42 31
and the playoffs:
  • San Francisco 49ers 38, Dallas Cowboys 28 NFC Championship Loss
  • Dallas Cowboys 35, Green Bay Packers 9 Div. Rnd Win

Sounds great Apefist.

How are you going to distribute them once they are encoded?

If you would like to upload them to Cowboys Media, I could provide you with some FTP software (free) and set up a directory on the CM server. Then you could use the CM bandwidth to distribute them.

Are you familiar with Cute FTP?

Yes, I was hoping you'd have FTP access. I usually use Firefox's FTP add-on plug-in with no issues, but I've used Cute FTP in the past.

I even got a capture card and Edius to capture the raw analog signal and Premiere Pro to edit out the ads and encode it to a manageable size, frame rate, and resolution.

Since your familiar with FTP, and you have the Firefox add-on, then I won't bother you with the Cute FTP Pro software I have. However if you want it, I have no problem providing it free with the serial number.

Once you get the video encoded, let me know, and I will set-up a directory at Cowboys Media. Then you can feel free to upload whenever you like. Once the content is on the server, I will create an HTML page for everyone to visit and download whatever they want.

I'm sure everyone will be stoked to revisit the 90's Glory Days. Original game broadcasts brings back some vivid memories.

awesome, I look forward to these! Is the seperated shoulder game already available to download?

I would love to see an archive of NFL Films year books. I have crappy copies of the years 1971-1981. I could always start "digitizing" them...

We have posted the NY game in the vidoe of the month. If you would like, I will find out whenwe will post it again.

The years books would be great to post. I am working on posting yearbooks for each year. I have 1967, 1995, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. I am always looking for more to post. Let me know what I can do to help.

The Yearbooks I have are second generation vhs dubs, I could always work on converting them to digital files. The quality varies. I use final cut for video work and could convert them to .mov files.

But, yes, please tell me when the NY game will go up again.

I think I have the yearbook from 91, their first playoff appearance when they beat the Bears and lost to the Lions (Aikman had been out with a knee and Buerlein QB'd in his absence). The Commanders won the Super Bowl that year and I think Dallas swept the 'Skins that season. I remember beating them once on MNF (I was there) with Emmitt romping for like 175 yds.

I also have 6 Days to Sunday, the pre-Hard Knocks ESPN (TNT maybe?) series that covered 2 NFL teams for the week before they played each other. This was Dallas@Minnesota. The game went into overtime with Emmitt scoring on like a 29 yard run in OT for the win.

sorry, fellas. i got pneumonia and have been in bed for a week and a half, so my project is on hold until I get better. I'm feeling better and can sleep through the night without waking up every hour, and that's pretty dang good compared to what I've been going through.

I also need a better vcr because the quality of s-video rips vs. analog to digital video rips is pretty noticeable. So that will add some delay. I borrowed one from a friend but the audio kept cutting out.

But check it out, I might be buying an old professional panasonic video machine (with timecode and everything that every TV studio used during the 80s and 90s prior to digital video) from--get this--a guy who works in the Cowboys' media dept. The guy in charge has finally decided to get rid of those old VHS machines and he's doing it cheap: depending on the condition, $10-20 per unit. New, they cost $5000 each. Now, they are obsolete, but the video quality is still pro. So, I might get a VHS machine that the old Dallas COwboys Weekly show was edited on.

But anyway, sorry for the delay. I caught pneumonia for the first time in 2005, and once you get it, you become susceptible to getting it again. This is the 3rd time I've had it since 2005, and my lungs have taken a beating, plus it just wears you out. I can't even sit at my desk and encode videos for very long because it tires me out so easily. So give me a little more time to recuperate, get a reliable VCR with s-video, and we'll be back in business in no time. No matter how long it takes, it's still going to get done, I assure you.

Can you post the box scores from the 93 season? I'm a stat hound. I enjoy looking at old box scores but I can't find complete box scores from games played in 1993 and before.

Since this project is taking longer than I expected, I will try and do that this week (post the box scores).

I was sick up until this past weekend: walking pneumonia. It sucked balls, but I'm on the mend. I wasn't able to score that VHS machine I mentioned earlier due to being laid up in bed, so I'm still seeking a VHS with S-video in my budget range.
