The one thing people tend to forget when comparing QBs of today with QBs of yesteryear was the situation itself. QBs back in the late 60s and throughout the 70s had no time to throw the ball. You got to the end of your drop and you had to get the ball out or you're eating grass. Today we have these steroid pumped OL that give QBs 3-4 seconds to throw the ball. Back then, that's why you needed a run game. Otherwise you were screwed.
Wait, you don't think the OLs of yesteryear were not pumped full of steroids?

No, the Niners were an excellent team. They had just annihilated the Giants 44-3 in the divisional playoffs the week before they came to Dallas for the conference title game. They weren't garbage, they weren't pushovers.


I didn’t say THEY were a garbage team, I said they played in a garbage division just like the pats have for decades.
They were good, but we were better 4 years straight
