I'm not exactly sure what you are doing with these threads; I thought maybe you were putting the best of the best we could have had but then I see that you left off some pretty good people and listed 'names'.

How Priest Holmes does not make this list anywhere shows the quality of this thread. :D

i missed priest holmes....my bad

Just giving you guff; I was just very high on Priest in the 97 draft even though Ricky Williams took his carries.

Priest went to school here in San Antonio....he was a beast in HS.

he had injury issues at Texas....that is why he was an undrafted free agent.

selvin young is built like priest and has the same kind of skill set...he also has the same durability questions. however, one thing that separates Priest from Selvin is that Priest wasn't afflicted with fumbleitis (Selvin is)....if Selvin can get that fumbling under control, I can see him making an impact in the NFL under an offense like Priest was in.

I like Young, but don't really compare him to Holmes other than the UT ties. Holmes was shorter, stronger with similar speed. Young has the same injury concerns but is more of a target on a weaker frame.

I think Holmes was the first UT back to have like 3 straight 100 yard games in like 10+ years and looked to be putting it all together and then he had the ACL injury and sat out '95. Who knows where he would have been drafted if he had that '95 season back.

As long as Young follows in the footsteps of Holmes or Williams rather than Chris Samuels he will be fine.

I hated this draft. It was a "lookit how smart we are by trading back" approach that failed miserably. Jerry thought that he could do magic with extra picks --that worked for Jimmy when he was bringing in the smurf D - lots of those type of players would fall b/c they didn't fit the size parameters teams were looking for back then.
