1st, I would just like to say that I'm doing this for no other reason than I have nothing better to do while getting paid at work. This isnt to bash the picks we did make.

Ok so, I remember Jerry saying that they had legitimate trade back offers on the table, but decided Martin was the better value. This is my draft assuming the Saints called us 1st to move up for Cooks. And I won't be greedy, we take the same deal the cardinals got. 27 and 91for 16.

27- Demarcus Lawrence- obvious pick here, BPA=best passrusher available

47- Timmy Jernigan- as long as the drug test thing didn't scare us away I feel like this is also a pretty obvious pick. We showed a ton of interest and it was an obvious need. Fits perfectly as the 1 tech next to Melton

78- Donte Moncreif- This is where it gets interesting...my gut tells me to go with Brooks, but I don't think the war room was ever thinking FS in this draft. With D line already addressed I think this pick would come down to Moncreif, Huff, or Phillip Gaines. I went with the best athlete.

91- Trai Turner- Again, obvious pick in my opinion. There were rumors talking about us trading up for him even after drafting Martin. I think it would be a dream come true if he was still on the board with the extra pick acquired.

Just a fun exercise, I'm sure there are dozens of different combinations so post what you would have done.

Since they had Huff in for a visit, I would go with him over Moncreif.

Yes, I had asked something similar about taking a 3rd to trade down to #26 with Cleveland.

#27 Lawrence
#47 ?
#78 I think they might have pick Trai Turner here as much as they seemed to like him. He is not a developed as Martin, but in a year he will be very good, IMO.
#91 ?

Stephen Jones said something in response to a question about Jernigan that implied that they probably would not have picked him in the 2nd.

I saw a report that they had another LB rated as a 3rd round pick. I think it was the other guy at Iowa.

Wonder if they would just have gone Ealy at #47 then? Not sure if anybody else makes a ton of sense unless they liked a wr like Adams.

Wonder if a more realistic option would something like:

Lawrence
Ealy
Turner
McKinnon (?)

The reports were Ealy would be the pick at #47 but that was with Martin at #16. With Lawrence at #27 it might be different.

47- I actually think they wouldve picked a WR, i think they liked Cody Latimer
78-Trai Turner, they have already said they wouldve picked him at the 3rd even with the Zack Martin pick.

27) Lawrence
47) Ealy
78) Sutton
91) Turner

The word is that they didn't like Sutton. They preferred Sutton's partner at DT, Coleman.

Yeah, I think they liked him just not that high. They also did not have the hindsight that Trai Turner would fall to the bottom of the 3rd and already said that was the guy they would have taken at 78. So I think they take Turner there and with the later 3rd they would have probably gone with the 1 tech Justin Ellis (who they really liked according to Broaddus). They also supposedly liked Cassius Marsh but he would be another left end.

You're probably right that they would have taken Turner at 78. Not sure who they would have gone with at 91.
