I am not the least bit surprised. Defenses play run on first down, especially against the Cowboys who have a tendency to run on first down. Passing is going to be more successful anyway because the league rules favor the passing game. I can't tell you how many games I watch the Cowboys and think to myself they should be passing on first down more even if they only get 6 yards. Then they can run or pass on 2nd down, and if they get only 2 yards, they are 3rd and 2 and again they have the option to run or pass. But for some reason Garrett thought 2nd and 10 is worse if you throw an incomplete pass than if you run for no gain.
