When looking at needs (and yes we have quiet a few) I was trying to play devil's advocate when thinking who is still there when we pick vs best bang for the pick.... I will be doing this for many different positions.
I'll start with OT. There is
Mike McGlinchey from ND... (Most likely gone)
Orlando Brown from OU... (Might be there)
Connor Williams from UT (better chance of being there)
Only reason to look at this scenario, is to find a stud Tackle that can play left tackle in a pinch. (yes that means Collins is back to starting LG next year) Regardless if these guys can play either side or not, Smith started at Right Tackle and most likely these guys can as well. Training camp would decide the best position for both in this scenario. The great thing is if somehow Smith is still having back issues, this pick would play LT and open the RT position to Collins, leaving the backup LG position to Cooper (which I hope we resign).
In this scenario Brown would be the mauler at 6'8" and 360 lbs. His weight might scare you when it comes to speed rushers, but his reach and punch is undeniable.
Conner Williams is one of the best pulling Tackles in the game. A little underweight but watch his game film. He makes up for it in the zone blocking skills. At 6'6" 288 lbs he has the wheels to handle speed rushers and still has a frame to grow into.
With that said I would still take Conner Williams which is more likely to be there as well.... That is if we were to go after an OT.....
