Again playing devil's advocate, I am working with who may still be there when we pick vs best bang for the pick.... I will be doing this for many different positions.
This time it is Wide Receivers........ There is
Courtland Sutton from SMU (6'4" 218 lbs)
Calvin Ridley from Alabama (6'1" 190 lbs)
James Washington from Oklahoma ST (6'0" 205 lbs)
Christian Kirk from Texas A&M (5'11" 201 lbs)
Deontay Burnett from USC (6'0" 170 lbs)
In this scenario you are rather looking for a true #1 WR (to rather replace Dez) or complement Dez as the #2 WR. If you are picking a WR in the first 2 rounds, the goal would be to complement Dez for now but be a replacement when the times comes.
If you are looking to replace Dez next year look no further than Sutton. While I love both Ridley and Kirk, I think they make great #2's that might grow into being much more. Sorry that is my opinion. Sadly 2 of the 3 will most likely will be off the board at our pick in the 1st. And for the record, no way does Washington makes it to our 2nd round pick. That man is a beast in his own right and is better suited to be in the top 3 with his numbers pointing north. Just not considered the top 3 this year. Burnett might make it to our 2nd round pick but it's a crap shoot. What I will say is I am not interested in Burnett unless he is there for the 2nd round pick. I also have issues seeing Burnett as our #1 receiver. He is a #2 with great measurable.
With rather Kirk, Sutton, or Ridley being the odd man out of the top 2 chosen, I would like to say all three could be elite in our offense. While Sutton could be a Dez clone in power and size, he also offers Dez and OBJ catching ability with jump balls. A rare talent but played in a lesser conference.
Ridley played in a power house conference and showed he belongs. What is surprising though is his yardage coincides with his whole college career (less than his rookie season, better than last year) but his TD's took a major drop this year.
Kirk though offers speed and great hands. He can also return kickoffs in a snap as well. Sadly his stats dropped as well for the most part. His receptions, yards per season, and yards per catch were down this year. Luckily he still did 7 TD's with far lower receptions.
Can't go wrong with any of them, but if looking to replace a Dez, Sutton would be my choice. If you are looking to complement Dez then Kirk or Ridley would be your guy.
