WR Brice Butler- Resign
G Jonathan Cooper- Resign
DT Terrell McClain- Resign
CB Brandon Carr- Resign
S Barry Church- Resign
David Irving- Try to work out a long term deal, but obviously back next year

Free Agent Signings
Sean Spence LB/ST- Good backup and special teamer. Replaces Gachkar/Durant

Markus Wheaton WR- Never quite caught on with Ptt but worth a look for cheap

Devin Taylor DE- I'd like to put Addison, Sheard, or Branch here but I think the Cowboys end up looking further down the FA list then we'd all like as usual. Taylor is extremely long and has a decent burst. 11.5 sacks last 2 years as a backup.

Kemal Ishmael S- Vet to stabilize the S position. If he has to start a few games he can handle.

Ryan Griffin TE- Big and a good blocker. Makes sense to sign a stable backup TE

Blaine Gabbert QB- Need someone better than Sanchize

Sorry, no splash signings

Draft
Round 1- Taco Charlton DE Mich
Round 2- Cameron Sutton CB Tenn
Round 3- Zay Jones WR East Carolina
Round 4- Jarron Jones DT Notre Dame
Round 6- Brandon Bell LB Penn State

The defense doesn't look significantly improved. I think you need to shake up both CB and S. One new FA CB and one new FA safety.

Just my opinion.

But honestly, you may be right in how the front office approaches FA. Sign some bargain bin depth guys.

Gabbert....barf.

I'd rather spend the 2-3mil/yr it would take to sign him and spend it towards resigning one of our own. I'm comfortable going with Moore as our backup. He knows the offense and can move the ball. Sure he'll turn the ball over every now and then, but I'd feel much better with him under center than Gabbert or Sanchez.

You want a starting caliber CB in free agency you're paying a ton for it. Besides, you could assemble a all-star secondary and they'd still look bad if the pass rush was as bad as it was at times last year. Even if the FO creates a bunch of cap $ I don't think we can realistically afford to sign more than 1 big free agent anyway. If we go after a big name in free agency it better be on the d line and not secondary.

Ehh he was really just a name on the FA list that I knew would be cheap. Could be 1 of a bunch of names. I disageee on Moore though. I don't think he's a guy capable of keeping the ship afloat if pressed into action for multiple games. Just don't think he has the arm to keep a D honest

Personally I see Smith,Taco,JJones as defensive additions and considering where were drafting that aint bad.
Jaye Jones looks great as the second WR
We'd be lucky to get this hual.
I think JJWilcox is coming along I's keep him. His an enforcer

What? Carr is a starting caliber CB in free agency and you are likely going to get him for fairly cheap. I am not looking for an elite CB in free agency. I am looking for a competent one. The bar set by Carr isn't very high anyway. Bring in a new CB and a new safety like Tony Jefferson and then maybe draft another CB like Sutton. It's lunacy to basically return the same starting secondary, pass rush or not.

Well it's really not because in reality they performed pretty damn well last year all things considered. And they be adding a now experienced

But seriously, point out a starting caliber CB we could sign that won't get a long term deal with triple the guarantee Carr will get. Tru Johnson, Prince, Gilmore, Kirkpatrick, Ryan, Bouye, Cockrell...would love to mock any of them to us but I just don't see it as realistic. And even if it was $ wise I'd be more upset that we spent that on secondary and not d line.

They were overrated as a secondary all year. They were average by any real measure.

I've had enough. Change it up.

Wilcox basically started in his first year so I don't see why Frazier can't be the primary backup in his second year, not to mention he actually played safety 4 years in college unlike Wilcox. A vet wouldn't stabilize anything, ask Washington how their vet safeties stabilized that defense. id rather bring in a 7th round guy/udfa as the third string strong safety. Byron, Heath and Wilcox know the defense good enough

Anybody who wants Bruce butler back isn't a Cowboy fan

For a cheap contract he's a more than acceptable 4th or 5th WR. I don't understand how back up players elicit such bitterness from some fans.
