FA Signings:
Lamar Miller
Eric Berry
Derrick Johnson
1 - Carson Wentz QB, N Dakota State - I think Goff goes to Cleveland as they'll want an immediate starter, and Wentz isn't ready for that. I'm torn because I love Ramsey, but I think we have the opportunity to get a future franchise QB and can't pass it up.
2 - Eli Apple, CB Ohio State - May end up going in the first round, but if teams view Ramsey as a corner then I think he'll slip a bit. I think his skillset, physicality, size and aggressive mentality will make him a good fit for Marinelli's defense as he continues to work in more press man.
3 - Scooby Wright, MLB Arizona - Plug and play. Will rack up a ton of tackles. Might not be as athletic as you want in the middle of this defense, but his recognition is phenomenal, which allows him to play faster than other players of his physicality.
4 - Paul Perkins, RB UCLA - I love Perkins, he does everything on the field. Doesn't have the top-end speed, but he's a great compliment to Miller. Probably wouldn't see the field much as a rookie if DMac returns, but I think this guy can be a solid, every down back. Considered putting him in the third round, but hope he slips.
4 - DJ Pettway, DE Alabama - He's got some character concerns that would need to pass, and this might be a bit early for him, but he's an NFL ready player. Good burst and strong at the POA, pretty much a perfect LDE and complimentary player. Maybe if he puts on a bit of weight he could move inside in pass-rush packages as well.
6 - Willie Henry DT, Michigan - Relentless player who should be able to rotate at both the 3-tech and 1-tech. That's what separates him from Sheldon Day, in my eyes. He needs a lot of work as he does not have good hands and plays too high, but that's what you hope Marinelli can get out of him.
6 - Kevin Hogan, QB Stanford - Got some upside, might have a chance at sticking.
6 - Kevin Byard, SS Middle Tennessee - 19 INTs in his career, so he has some ball-hawking skills.
6 - Shawn Oakman, DT/DE Baylor - I think he falls this far. He's never been that much of a force in college, but this late in the draft taking a guy with his size makes sense.
6 - Geronimo Allison, WR Illinois - Good size and speed. Not a great athlete but is very smooth and has the speed to get vertical. Probably needs to add some weight and get stronger, but every player this late is going to need work in this regard.
Have at it.
