PollDaddy.com Update: With 90 votes in our readers have Rich Ohrnberger and Cedric Dockrey a shade ahead of Lance Louis for the best pro guard prospect without a N.F.L. combine invite. The top two vote-getters will eventually join 2009 All-Combine Snubbed Team, picked by our readers, via Polldaddy.com... The thirteen write-in votes, so far, are for T.J. Lang of Eastern Michigan (seven votes); Tavita Thompson of Oregon State; Cameron Goldberg of Duke; Marlon Davis of Alabama; George Bussey of Louisville; Nick Hennessey of Colgate and Brandon Meyers (TE) of Iowa. We should mention that we fully intend to list Lang as a offensive tackle in our next poll. We might do the same with Hennessey, Thompson and Golberg.

Two days ago Rick Gosselin of the Dallas News did a short feature on ex-Pitt wide receiver Derek Kinder, who was once considered a rising star prior to a devastating 2007 knee injury. Fascinated by Kinder's draft potential, we asked a source close to the former Pitt Panther if he thought Derek might get drafted:

Reply to DD.com: "Derek Kinder is a very talented kid. He has some of the best hands I have seen in a few years and runs very good routes. But one of the things that sets him apart is his toughness and willingness to block down field. If I had to compare him to somebody it would be Hines Ward. Five to ten teams called about Derek prior to his pro day inquiring on his knee and how he would run. Teams felt he was a high 4.5 guy and could sneak into the 7th round at that time. Now after putting up a solid 4.46, I expect him to start getting more interest".

A few days ago we got some pro day info from a very reliable source, who informed us that Duke wide receiver Eron Riley was spectacular at his pro day. However, because our league sources had him running a 4.60 (with a free agent grade) coming into his senior season, we were a bit reluctant to post such wild numbers without confirmation. Yesterday Tony Pauline of SI.com posted similar 40 times (same source?) so we've decided to put forth the times we received. Warning, if accuarate (run on a normal track & correctly hand timed), they are startling for a player who did not get a combine or all-star invite:

Eron Riley (Duke WR)

Height - 6.30

Weight - 206

Vertical- 40"

Broad - 11' 2"

Bench - 13 reps

40 YD - 4.27 was fastest / 4.36 was slowest. No one in attendance had him higher than a 4.36.

Pro Agility - 4.06

LCone - 6.70

*Obviously, we can't give up our sources, but the numbers came from a scout that works for an A.F.C. franchise that has the color blue in their uniform (So it's not the Jets, Bengals, Raiders, ect.).

I had totally forgot about the kid Kinder. He was a pretty good looking WR. He played with Palko as his QB if I remember correctly, and was supposed to be their new Fitzgerald.

Anyone know something good about Brandon Tate from NC he is suppose to be similar, injured but with something to prove and considered top prospect before the injury. These are interesting guys who may be our best hope in the draft for quality. What are Kinder measures, height, weight, etc?

I DON'T CARE!

Those numbers never translated on the field. So what he hired a speed coach and can run fast in a straight line. Bottom line is, with all that speed and measurable s he did not display the domination you would expect on the field.

His best games came against Navy and James Madison while he was none existent against top notch competition basically being shut out by the likes of Virginia, Georgia Tech, Miami and Clemson.

The only upside is he's only 21 years old, will not be 22 till August and may continue to develop with NFL coaching but to say this kid who would of been lucky to get a UDFA invite up until now is suddenly a sleeper is silly. There are kids who put up twice the numbers on the field but did not blow away a stop watch off it who I would rather see draft picks used on then Riley.

FA invite, would love to see it. Waste even a 7th round pick on him, I don't see it as worth it.

So what you are saying is this kid has Alexander Wright written all over him? :laugh2:

I say if you want a burner......go after Mike Wallace or Johnny Knox. Both put up numbers throughout their collegiate careers.

what i am saying, first, keep an open mind, you mind find a steal in the draft

the receiver that i like in this draft is johnny knox

im just posting what i run across, you might find a steal

for example, you post maybe 100 times, out of that, you might find one steal of a draft pick, that to me is worth it,

so i post what i run across, and let any of you that may have seen this player play if he is any good or not,

then you go from there

kinda like when the cowboys got leon lett in 7th round, or tony romo as a free agent, or nick folk as a kicker in the 6th round, you leave no stone unturned, you might find a gem for the cowboys
