As a Cowboys fan, I'd be happy with that draft all in all.

That said, my preference would be for McCourty at 27 though. It would be interesting to see who the Cowboys choose between the two if both players are on the board.

Well Nate isn't a 1st round pick to anyone but us, which means we'd be taking him for the sake of need. I still don't like that, but the pick could be worse for sure.

I'd rather trade down if this is what it comes to, or just take McCourty who is actually a true 1st round talent.

And of course you know that because you've spoken with football people for all 31 other teams right?

Yes. Exactly.

Even though I prefer McCourty, the thing about Nate Allen is . . . . .

that there doesn't appear to be any major holes in his game.

He seems to have excellent character first of all, has good speed and size, can make plays on the ball, has good range, and is generally a good tackler (though he could improve a bit in that regard). And I think he has been durable.

I wouldn't be disappointed in N Allen at 27, but I think that McCourty also has excellent STs ability - maybe the best of the top ranked DBs. For me, that gives him an edge.
