Everoyone on earth knew we were taking an OLB in the first. Even if people knew we were going 2 TE sets it wouldn't have meant we were looking at one in pick two, much less specifically targeting Fasano. There was absolutely no need for the secrecy.

Maybe... but it costs a lot more to move up in the first than it does in the second... like I said..it may not be the case...but I like surprises:D

According to Jerry... and that we can remain in that formation on all 3 downs... If that is the case and I have no reason to disbelieve Jerry...than Fasano was a need pick... also from my understanding this Hatcher guy just WOWED a couple of teams... AZ, NO, NE & Dallas..

From the dreaded "sources"

Ko Simpson made a 10 on the wonderlic and teams really doubt he is capable of making the defensive calls needed....

Giles and Watson are just fat guys that lack desire..

(personal note dept.)

I really like the idea of running a double te system...it really helps in both the run and the pass/protection department...

I think Dallas has been brilliant so far in their drafting all though they have not selected a single draftee I have earmarked...

I am perhaps more excited about the future of the Cowboys then I have been in a long while....

I would like to see WR, Guard and a DB taken on the second day

Yehaw...Go Cowboys:)

Ok this is odd, whats your angle Zax

I have always called them as I see them friend...it is just that some focus on my negatives comments more than my positive comments... In fact a lot of the times my positive comments get like 1 or 2 posts while the negative ones go on sometimes in the hundreds of posts...

Denver took a TE 9 picks later. Maybe they were afraid Denver wanted their man. Other then the people in the Cowboys war room, who knows?

I just wish Jerry could have let us in on the secret before hand. It would have saved thousands of fans heart ache with that second pick. It's not like secrecy was really even needed. I guess I should blame Dallas reporters most.

If Jones let us know before the draft the Boys' intent to change the offense to a base 2-TE set then he would have tipped off the rsst of the division as well. Keepping this change-in-philosophy under lock-and-key was briallinat in that our divisional opponetns are plannig their defensive rosters through the offense and draft based on defending a 2005 Cowboy offense we won't be runing in 2006. If the switch to the two-TE offense works out talent-wise for us then our opponents may have serious mismatch problems in defending us due to not having the right personnell to do it successfuly.

Speaking of TE's..has Sean Ryan been released?

A Google search on him turned up this.

DallasCowboys.com - Official Website of the Dallas CowboysBut the Cowboys released rookie Sean Ryan, a fifth-round draft pick from Boston College. The Cowboys cut Ryan, who didn't show them enough on special teams, ...
www.dallascowboys.com/team_playerTracker. cfm?positionGroup=Tight%20Ends - 58k - Apr 28, 2006 - Cached - Similar pages

But when I clicked on the dc.com TE playertracker page, the last entry was a late Dec. blurb on Dan C.

Wierd. That April 28 date makes it look like Sean was released the day before the draft..but there was no story on it at dc.com I could find.

Was he released this spring?

If they're changing to a two TE base then what the heck was the base offense last year???????

Does that mean that either Dan Campbell (a starter) or Jason Witten (another starter) wasn't a TE???

No it means instead of using a FB and 1 TE like last year we will use 2 TE full time and no FB

Campbell started but didn't perform as expected. Polite will be history now. No FB in our few offense really.

LOL Zaxor.

I swear that is vebatim what I pulled up. And the link to the full story 'disappeared'. :)

I'm glad he's still here....bad enough for me having to stomach a Notre Dame player under any circumstances, but if Fasano immediately 'replaced' a Boston College player, I'd find that unbearable.
