Fixing the OL fixes the run defense because it will allow them to play with the lead.

The only consistent run defense in the NFL is forcing teams into throwing the ball.
You do have a point , playing ahead will help. But our LB core was a concern and it become even more after Overshown was lost, dont know Bell , Kearse, Wilson can play LBs against good running teams.

we need another fast ILB or someone has to step up bigtime .

Ahh I forgot about that yes we need better LB play,. I watch Overshown at UT , he was never going to be the answer, at best he will be a special team guy

Fix the OL and the Run Defense and we will be ready.
Inside out!
The run defense has been a problem for years. They’ve been spending a lot of time and draft picks the last few years trying to fix it and nothing has worked. It’s obviously not a simple fix.

To win consistently and give yourself a chance in the tournament as ol sorry parcels would call the playoffs, you have to have a strong OL and DL.
Dak is good when he has the time, the backs will have holes to run through the receivers will be open or have time to get open. The Dl will stop the run or slow it down considerably and pressure the QB, that helps the back end.
McCarthy play calling is good as well as Schotty, the Special Teams are good.
We can’t do anything about Jerry and his ways, just have to ride with him.
The one thing we need to be and we'll be good to go
GET HEALTHY!!!

The LBers have been bad since 2019. It's nothing new.

I probably underestimated what Overshown would have been in this defense this year. I was hoping/expecting Clark would take a step forward with a full offseason, but he certainly hasn't. Speed isn't really the issue as much as they just don't have any LBers with any instincts.

The OL was a glaring weakness heading into the season. The Cowboys chose not to address it with any valuable assets. So, here we are. The best attribute a player provides his team is availability. There is a real availability deficiency that exists within that unit and I wont be surprised if it submarines the season.

Fixing the OL means getting healthy. Of course injuries cannot be predicted. We just started the week and now Edoga is on the injury report too!. By the end of the week I suppose we can expect Steele tobe out as well. I have no idea what they are doing in practices but this is ridiculous.

Give his OL a couple of games to gel and they will be pretty good.

If there is a problem on offense, I think its the TEs. I don't see them contributing big plays to the offense. I am really disappointed in Hendershot. I thought he would create some mismatches but he has looked pretty clumsy out there. I suspect next year John Stephens has good chance to take his roster spot. I think they also need to figure out how to use Cooks better. running him on short routes over the middle seems like the worst way to use him, but what do I know.

The run defense is a bit more complicated. I think they can shore up the run defense by being less aggressive up front. But if they do that, it may reduce pressures and sacks. If Diggs was healthy this may not be a huge problem, but Diggs is out and Bland has replaced him. If opposing QBs have time I think they can expose our secondary. When I watched the first 3 games I saw receivers getting open, but the QBs were harassed to the point they could net set and make good throws. If the stop the huge chunk plays, like the 44 and 45 yard runs last week, I think they will be okay. More than half of the Cardinals 222 rushing yards came on 3 plays. That has to stop.

Here’s something that I see people are forgetting the eagles are not dominating us!
Go back and see how many times they have beaten us since Dan Quinn has been here as a matter of fact how many times have they beaten us since Dak took over?
The eagles have good talent but they are not dominating I see more mistakes by opponents against them that helps the eagles win. Historically the eagles always have a salty defense always have I have been watching the cowboys for 50 something years now, my hatred for them them, the giants , Commanders (will always be the Commanders in my mind) and the Cardinals who were originally in our division.
I realize that but think about this if we had 10 penalties for 107 yards couple big plays called back and missing three offensive lineman what would you think that the Eagles would do to us?? You are my wavelength now I'm talking about though when you get into a scenario like that things just snowball all three sides of the ball and coaching or sometimes there's nothing you can do about it...

And yet it only counts as one loss which by the way doesn't everybody say that regular season wins don't count as much as playoffs so talk when you win more in the playoffs etc
Riddle me this then why is so much weight and exaggeration and overthinking going into one little regular season loss??

The goal posts are constantly moved everything is a different standard with the Cowboys.. If they can make a giant story out of it they will and right now our own fans are adding to that fire by making a big deal over one loss and we were missing 4 Pro Bowl players on the road and fell into that trap where you meet somebody that's more prepared than you against your weaknesses..

If you you're gonna lose a game like this let it be early in the season on the road missing players you can come back adapt and use it as a learning lesson

Chose not to address it ???!! :oldcouple:maybe you didn't see the draft a Asim Richards, they brought in bass,Hoffman, they resigned Terrence Steele.. we already had Tyler Smith they brought in edoga as well.. He even got injured you cannot cover up this many injuries with quality depth, it's just not possible.. Teams out there like the giants and many more that have a problem fielding five good starters and you think we could have 2Deep??lmao good try though defense sux blame the OL depth on jerry lmao.

Tyron, tylers, Tyler, edgoa, martin, and Wally, all been out with injuries. Right enough great OL in the league to address that many losses almost all in 3 weeks.

no team can be prepared missing 3 Pro Bowl starters in one game on one unit at one position...NONE,

NONE have that type of depth, sorry still here making waves of negativity and its misplaced. Defense got their butts whooped,

no way we could have covered that line up normally you have one guy out ,your best OL depth comes in and is surrounded by the best and can be adjusted too. no team could, what we needed was the defense to step up when the offense was that wounded... They did not add in all penalties in the team just wasn't strong enough to overcome this on the road against a team that seemed to have our number again, dobbs is the new dc killa...

Counting on Tyron Smith? Did you see Edoga and Bass play Sunday? You want to tout guys further down the depth chart? Oh, they signed Steele. That was a maintain, not a boost.

The OL will be the demise of this team if they don't stay healthy and given what saw after just two weeks, things look dicey at best.

The funny thing is you sound surprised that Tyron Smith is missing time already.

I didn't read a single I did not read a single part of what you just wrote no need to because I already told you there are no teams in the NFL that have that many good starters let alone backups if that line alone doesn't sink in nothing will because your hate for the Jones family is obvious you just need something to cry about.. this is the reality of the NFL there aren't enough quality players to build two complete units. this place seems to think we should have 44 pro bowlers again the issue here again is you're supposed to replace a player one at a time, losing 3 on the same exact group on the line is nearly impossible to cover up lmao

so yes those players were picked from a pool that all 32 teams are trying to pick throgh to fill five starter spots let alone find quality backups. reality check all are facts and this is what all teams struggle with when they have rash of injuries at one group and position. Sorry ok mr gm experts' talent evaluator, right they just purposely got terrible backups knowing all 5 would be in and out and decided to get the worst ones available.

We need better play at QB and better weapons. Outside of Lamb and Pollard not impressed.
Better play at QB is able to hide lots of little things here and there...but below average play and bad play exposes every little pimple and blackhead in your face that you know you got to do something about. Unfortunately, we don't have very good play by the QB. He is a weakness as well and to top it all off, has lost all his mobility.. Defenses aren't threatened by it or even prepare for him running.

Quality depth wins in January or perhaps September for some teams. It's hard to get there with a top heavy roster. Succession planning has long been a weakness of the Cowboys front office and it is once again rearing its head on the OL. No one crying over here and where did I even mention the Jones Family? You seem to very sensitive to any criticism that is cast in their direction. Is that you, Jerry? Just opining like everyone else on this board.

Next time, try to articulate your position without the petulance.
