I am not one to constantly complain like some but 2 things tat Garrett does really gets me steamed..

1. His obsession with getting the ball 1st. Get the lead and keep the lead is his train of thought. We have a young STOUT defense that has proven its can stop the best of offense's, KICK the ball away! Getting the ball 1st in the 2nd half is a HUGE advantage.

STOP PASSING THE BALL ON 1ST AND GOAL INSIDE THE 10 YARD LINE! We have one of the best backs in football and every time we get down near the goal line we come out passing. Today's game was no different. 1st and goal on the 5 yard line and yup, a pass. I knew it was coming and I am sure the Eagles knew it was coming. Zeke is getting a TD on 3 carries from the 5 yard line.

Great game Boys!

Coop.....you da man!

I believe Garrett has deferred most if not all the time that the Cowboys have won the coin toss this year.

Also: deferring to get the ball in the second half isn't a huge advantage, and I've seen no evidence that it's an advantage at all. In fact, there's evidence that teams that receive the opening kickoff win slightly more often, but it's not statistically significant.

Getting the ball first in the 2nd half isn't a huge advantage. Like.... At all.

That's his philosophy to take the ball so let's get it and roll with it.
I have no problems with him passing the ball down there, I have a problem with the type of routes we run down there.

This is true. however, it has potential for benefit and it's much more fun to have the chance to double dip at the end of the half and the start of the next, than giving the opponent the opportunity.

What pisses me off about Garrett is that he runs a flawed playbook. They need to fire Linehan and get an OC in here that will call plays independent of Garrett.
Well the thing is the play book may be JG's playbook, and just a few are linehans.
most of the plays look the same as before linehan was even here.

Truth is we dont know who makes or controlls the playbook and designs of plays.
Linehan just calls them.

So best thing is to get rid of both of them .
Just getting rid of linehan might not change much.

Garret used to call plays based on a down and distance and situational system he devised and that may still be in play.

I usually jump all over Garrett bashing threads. But a 5 game win streak is unusual. So I'm going to do something unusual and give him some love. Going for it on 4th down in overtime took a lot of guts. I'll give him some love for that, he played to win and played aggressive. And we won, he would have gotten butchered on this board, especially by me, if we lost cuz of that play. I'm impressed with him today, he did a good job winning this game and keeping the guys into it after adversity happened. I give him credit for that too.

Believe me, there would be nothing better than replacing Garrett. But I'm coming to terms that ain't happening. The next best thing would be to have an OC with full control over this offense.

The less that Garrett does for this team the best chances of us winning.

Today, I have no problem with JG. I notice on missed opportunities he wasn't clapping as per usual. What I saw on the sidelines is a coach who is coaching for his job...so that's good. I think he may even feel the pressure to win 2 games in the playoffs.

I saw a stat where close to 90% of opening kick offs were deferred. You might not see an advantage, but obviously NFL teams see some sort of advantage. 90% in any statistical category is significant.

Yes, deferring is definitely a fad. And if someone could show actual evidence that it provides an advantage, I’d be interested in seeing that. Should be easy to test. But I’ve never seen any such evidence, and certainly nothing to suggest it’s a “huge” advantsge as was claimed in the post I responded to.

Broken record. Every thread. Cry, complain, ***** and moan.

I don't like that his hair is that shade of red that can subliminally make people angry.
