20 Questions: 3 - How can Micah become DPOY in 2025

I know stats are important of course. Like sacks, TFLs, forced fumbles, etc.

But I believe the most important hidden part of being DPOY is the impact that player has on his team’s accomplishments.

What I mean by that is how much does his play influence outcomes of games? Did he make a key sack to seal a win or did he just rack up stats without many wins?

The best players are the ones whose best plays play a huge role in his team’s accomplishments winning.

Great stats + helping team win = DPOY

Now some of these comments just it still shocks me that people don't keep up defensive Player of the Year doesn't go to the best player in the big games it's a regular season a word I believe it has to be 'cause let me explain something to some of you who like to sweep this under the carpet and say he's tired he doesn't show up late in the season or in the playoffs..

TJ watt 0-4 in the playoff 1 sack his steam lost 7 straight playoff games..DPOY

Garett 1-3 playoffs 1 sack, DPOY Team hasn't won a division since 1986..

I mean these two guys are no different than Parsons they don't have any big game impact plays especially in the playoffs this is a team game and yet they won an individual award which I think this is now the other side of the coin aaron Donald and Nick Bosa definitely have done a lot more in the playoffs but again we've seen two sides of the coin It's not about being impactful because if it were that would mean you would have to do more in the playoffs and two guys have not not at all matter of fact Joey Bosa hasn't either but I don't think he's been DPOY...

Main thing is you have to lead in the category of your position which would be Sacks But add in some pressures interception fumble recovery tackles for loss those all help but that's it you're going to be in the top two if you're leading in your categories of your position just like people have looked at digs and bland as at least runners up in DPOY..

Everyone's saying that Parsons is getting tired he's not showing up he seems uninspired he's too small for the position it's absolutely wrong because Garrett TJ Watt and Joey Bosa are all on that same level they they're taking out a big games because teams know they can but that should leave openings for the rest of your team to do better and so far the Cowboys have not answered the bell they haven't had another guy just absolutely dominate when Parsons is being taken out of a particular game...

Stop getting held or at least start getting the calls.

The only way that's gonna happen is if he starts getting the calls, then he'll stop getting held because the flags will start dropping and I agree with you, I believe he probably have three or 4 more sacks a year if he's not held so often...

But I believe you just need to lead the league in your category of your position and that would be sack that would get him in the running for DPOY..

I think Fowler's going to help a lot this year and then Sam Williams and then yes Eazy E would help as a group they could take the pressure off Micah could be A lot more effective and probably get DPOY but you don't have to be special ,just be productive whenever your guy is being doubled and tripled, you've got to be eating like it's a free buffet... That's the only way teams start taking away some of these shifted defenses to take some of these better pass rushers out of the game..

But until the mid 2000s, almost every DPOY’s teams were big successes in the playoffs. Prior winners like Mean Joe Greene, Mel Blount, Cowboys Harvey Martin, Lester Hayes, Mike Singletary, Deion Sanders, Reggie White, Ray Lewis, Michael Strahan, James Harrison, Charles Woodson, Troy Polumalu, Aaron Donald and Stephon Gilmore all were on teams that won SBs.

It’s only been the last 5-10 years that you see guys winning DPOY on teams that have done little in the playoffs. Maybe that’s because offenses have become so dominant and many good playoff teams these days may not have one dominant defender but have a collection of good defenders as a team.

My point was that’s only been recently. Used to be the DPOY was on a team that either won a SB or made it to one. It’s only been the last few years you have seen DPOY guys on average teams.

I guess based on the new criteria Parsons can win, LOL!
