Some say that history repeats itself. It just may. Take a look a how the 2005 Cowboys are tracking when compared to the 1996 New England Patriots.

I made this post to show that inconsistency in BP system can still reap a great harvest at the end of the season if the team can get "HOT" and string several games together in November. Yes, I know that we have not won three games in a row since.....this post is just fruit for thought.

The big difference I see in that is every game that was desided by 4 points or less the Pats won that year...I dont see how it is the same in any way

There are a lot of things you could argue are different between the '96 Pats and this years' Cowboys, but close games ain't one of em. The Cowboys have lost all 3 games this year because they couldn't get it done in the red zone when it counted. If the Cowboys gain 10 more yards in those situations COMBINED, we're looking at 7-0.

Alot of fans I have talked to say that the Cowboys are too inconsistent and too conservative. I really do not believe that. I think that it is just BP's system. It is interesting to see how the Cowboys compare to another one of Parcells teams. I see many simularities, but I must admit that don't know all of the 1996 Pats circumstances that lead to their 4-3 record.

I also think the dress rehearsal is almost over just like the 1996 Patriots:

"It's been said that the teams who win in November and December are the ones who play in January. The final dress rehearsals for the last two months come in October, so it's getting to the point where teams need to step up and prove what they've got.

Our monthly standings so far:
September 2-1
October 2-2 (with one game left)
November ?-?
December ?-?

Let's hope so. But I would like for us to win the SB.

I'll take it for now. I can live with us matching them in 1996, that's for sure.

5-3 in the 1st half is key. then 5-3 in the 2nd half (10-6) most likely gets you into the playoffs, and 6-2 in the 2nd half (11-5) I believe might tie you for the division, pending the tiebreakers.

not to sound too pessimistic, but one difference between us and the patriots is how they were able to string 3 and 4 wins before they lose one. we're lucky to get 2-3 wins before we lose one.

What jumps out at me is how well that Pats defense played over the last 5 games.

They averaged holding the opposition to 12.8 points per game.

I think our D could be even better than that in the second half of the season.

I really think this team is capapble of making one of those runs you sometimes see. Winning 7 out of the last 8 games, ect. Like the Panthers did. Over defense is right on the cusp. Throwing out the Seattle game, and the hope that Jones returns soon, and our offense is plenty capable of making a run.

The only thing that I worry about is our Tackles and the kicker.
