Ok everyone....Here is a sneak peak at the 2006 Free Agency list.

We have lots of football to play still this year but it's always good to look ahead as well.

Who do YOU want from this list in 2006???

I havebolded some of my early picks

2006 FREE AGENTS

November 13, 2005
profootballtalk.com

We've broken out the elbow grease and put together a list of all potential free agents come 2006, if their current deals aren't extended.

This list contains only those guys whose contracts expire after the season, and not any players who could end up on the open market if released from current contracts, such as Terrell Owens.

The list is subject to change based on renegotiations and other transactions. Teams have until December 31 to re-sign current players and allocate a portion of the signing bonus to the 2005 salary cap.

Dallas: OT Torrin Tucker (RFA); WR Peerless Price; OT Ethan Brooks; TE Dan Campbell; LB Scott Fujita; S Keith Davis (RFA); LB Scott Shanle (RFA); LB Eric Ogbogu; S Willie Pile (RFA); S Lynn Scott; DT Willie Blade

tucker -- rfa will be retained another year.

price -- don't see keeping him unless he accepts a secondary role at a secondary salary similar to this year.

brooks -- depends on draft. if we draft OL, he may get caught in a numbers game.

campbell -- only marginally effective after foot injury, particularly as a blocker. he's never been a "hands" guy. i love the lockerroom presence, but he may need to take a reduction in salary to stay. his days may be done in dallas.

fujita -- i like his spunk. good special teams guy, role player. however, we clearly need an upgrade at LOLB. keep him at the right price, right role.

davis/shanle/pile -- all making contributions on both defense and ST. keep another year.

ogbogu/scott/blade -- ogbogu and scott are on the roster right now only because of injuries. interesting that they were available as UFAs during the season, i.e. no one else wanted them. blade will not be able to compete with our young OL. all three of these guys are done in dallas.

i think Bill and JJ will once again turn over the entire bottom 25% of the roster. frankly, i like it.

K Mike Vanderjagt <-- Perhaps we could steal him right out from under their noses. With Wayne and James up for contracts who knows he could slip away from them.

LOL You forgot TO in Philly! :D

Why Schobel?

Has he become a stronger blocker this year?

Will Witherspoon for the Panthers is a heckuva LB. I bet he is on BPs radar during FA.

Because he's from Dallas, a big Cowboys fan and will probably be available for a rather cheap price ... and Cowboys need a better 2nd/3rd TE. Hopefully next year we'll have our OT situation settled where we'll simply need adequate blockers at TE.

So, he's cheaper and is a fan, but might not be better than Campbell as a blocker. Sounds like outstanding reasons to pursue him.

Hey Inman
I too would love to see Kalimba Edwards here. He's a great fit as a 3-4 backer. I don't think Schobel will come here though when he's got a chance to start elsewhere.
The guy I feel sorry for on this list in LeCharles Bentley because more than likely he will be franchised to a team with no city. They have to pick between Howard and him and I think Bentley will be the one they franchise.

He also dwarfs Campbell in athleticism and play ability. But as Natedawg said, he'll probably get an offer to start somewhere, so the idea that he's going to come here to be a situational player is unlikely unless Dallas gets some hometown pull.

Line up Julian Peterson as your other outside backer and the defense would be scary.

Perhaps, but he cannot hold a candle to Campbell as a blocker and you should know Coach Parcells wants a strong blocker behind Witten. To me, in the little I have seen of Schobel (last year's game where he burned us), he looks closer to Witten than he does Dan.

I could see that happening. JP is just finally starting to get explosion back from his acl injury. he may not want to stay in sf, i wouldnt. His agents are the postons though so will probably not happen. He would be a great addition to the team with his blitzing and he is probably the best cover LB in the game.

I don't see SF letting Peterson walk since they use the 3-4 and he's the only young playmaker they have on defense.
