2006 NFL Free Agent List

I honestly cant see us being major player's in free agency this year. Jerry spent 32 millon this offseason. We need to concentrate on re-signing our young stars like witten. Jerry may grab 1 big name, but certainly not the spending spree we had this past offseason.

Nice job, Junk. I hope you don't mind, but I posted the list over at KFFL, which should draw some feedback on players who should or shouldn't be on the list for whatever reason. I gave you credit for making the list.

No problem, hopefully the end result of this is an accurate 2006 NFL FA list. I just hope I get to see the finished product.

living in 49ers country ive had the chance to see how incredible julian peterson can be, but the guy gets injured every freakin year, not sure id be willing to take that risk, but him alongside ware at olb would be freakin amazing.

Just seems strange talking about next year this year. We wait all off-season for the season to get here and when it does people want to talk about next year. Sorry to interrupt

No problem and I know where you are coming from. I like having this during the season, so as the games go on, I can watch players who will be free agents and at positions that I feel are weak for Dallas.

I doubt they would pay the money...But I would like Mike Vanderjact.

Thanks junk.

Some really good Kickers in that list. (Vinatieri, Vanderjagt, Longwell, etc.)

I would love to get Corey Chavous. He can play FS and SS and knows the game very well. He and Roy would make a deadly tandem back there.

Also, must... re-sign... Dan... Campbell.

chavous would be great. im sure hed be happy to jump ship after the atrocious way theyve been playing. very smart player, who would take a lot of burden off RW that is still there this season. FS is really the only spot id like to sign a FA, and maybe a fb.

Vinatieri will never see the FA market even if he did I don't see Jerry shelling out big money for a kicker.

I agree on Dan Campbell. Don't let him get away Jerry.

I dunno i havent seen too many rams games, but i do know that archuleta is pretty fast. i have seen him with good coverage skills but like i said ive only see a small portion of his plays. i do agree that we need a fast guy out at free safety though for coverage. but i just think imo archuleta can do both.

I just think coverage is more of a skill and feel than just use of pure speed. You can make up ground with recognition skills and having a feel for the passing game. I don't think Archuleta has that. Neither does Roy. Both have great feel for the running game. They both recognize running lanes and can come up and stone guys. It is a different skill set.

If Dallas got him, I would be fine with it. It just appears, they may already have a young player very similar to Arculeta in Beriault.

whoa....

great work junk.

and i agree on locking up Dan Campbell. he should be a top priority.

i notice my old buddy AB on the list.

ya beriault looked great, but after seeing so little of him, im not too sure id want to go into the season with him as priority at FS. he definitely showed he has the potential to start, just not if he can start at FS or play consistent enough. id prefer archuleta but like i said, i really havent seen enough of him to know if he's a good cover type safety or not yet, i just know hes an amazing athlete who can hit hard. hopefully he could fill the fs role, if not id like to at least get someone with a few years of experience to play there.

Omar already had his stint with Dallas. I think he is just a body at this point in his 9 year career. Chavous and Jackson could be of some interest.

This is the guy I was looking at: Chris Hope

Solid mentally - good feel for the game. Does a solid job of reading routes and closing forward from center-field. He only has average size but very good strength for the position. He is a better hitter than tackler - hits with force and can play with a mean streak. Good overall AA - shows solid hips, quickness and COD. Shows good overall play speed and can cover ground from center-field to sideline. He takes solid angles in run support - will come across the field and make plays. Though he is a big hitter, he needs to be more consistent to wrap up and finish. He is a very regimented player - can look mechanical with his reads and reactions. He is a steady player, but he does not come up with enough big or explosive type plays from the FS position.

sounds solid, i like the part about him being able to cover ground from center field to sideline. as long as he can cover good, and not give up big plays, we can leave the playmaking to RW Ware and the likes.

Get Will Demps, man, he would solidify the secondary. Looks like everyone else will be returning, draft a few young guys to groom and we are set at secondary for years.

Demps and Hope are possibilities. I'd like to add a young guy.

I liked OG Hutchinson but he'd be too pricey to sit and wait for LA or Rivera to retire.
I think we're going to have to use a day one pick to get an OG, and there should be plenty in the next draft. LA can't play forever and we know that Gurode isn't the answer. It should be interesting to see if we even re-sign Gurode. We're gonna need a young guy to develop behind our current guys. Not sure about Peterman either.
That list was pretty underwhelming. I honestly didn't see hardly any upgrades that we could get over what we have....maybe Kicker and FS Demps but slim pickings overall. Didn't see any LBs jump out at me. Julian Peterson, but still don't think he's the same player he was. I don't know how we could sign a FA WR to make any kind of contribution. It'd be too expensive to sign someone as a backup, wait, we're already doing that. More of a draft issue too because we're heavy there right now.
FS's aren't expensive on the FA market, you just have to find what you want. You do typically want someone with experience though. I think FS might be a good candidate to grab a FA.
LB might be also, but I'm not sure there will be any of interest available.
Next offseason I'm seeing:
FA: FS, K
Draft: OG, LB, WR

and hopefully 2007 draft:
QB Brady Quinn (if Henson still stinks)
and a 3-4 NT
