2006 was the perfect year to draft a QB

Romo may be great. But if he's not...the boys are back to square one.

The broncos traded the No. 15 and No. 68 selections to the St. Louis Rams for the 11th pick. They selected Jay Cutler. And he looks to be a future superstar (I watched every game he played in college. Trust me, the guy is a player).

By contrast the boys selected Carpenter #18 and Fasano at #53. Would anyone here honestly prefer Carpenter and Fasano to Culter?

I don't have a trade values chart. But I have to believe that a package of the #18 pick and the #53 pick would have been strongly considered by St. Louis. And Culter would have looked great wearing the star.

I don't disagree with that because I loved Cutler in college and he has a favre type arm and a lot of flair. I think he will be a good one. However, Parcells good feelings about Romo had to play a part in not looking for another young QB. I hope he is right about Romo.

15 = 1050
68 = 250
Total = 1300

18 = 900
53 = 370
Total = 1270

That's pretty close. We might have had to sweeten the pot a little bit. In any event, I'd rather have Fasano, Carpenter and Romo than just Cutler.

Trade values charts aren't set in stone. By the chart I looked at, the 18th and 53rd pick added up to 1330 points while the 15th and 68th picks added up to 1305. It looks like the Cowboys picks provide slightly greater value, but what if the Rams' chart was valued differently? What if they targeted a specific player they felt would be there at 15, but not lower? There is a lot that goes into a trade and if Dallas wanted Cutler, they still may not have been able to land him.

I wanted Wimbley in the worst way, but not to reach for him. He did not fall and therefore he was not an option anymore.

If he had fallen, and we traded Ellis away for a 3rd, then keeping Shanle would have been ideal as far as I'm concerned, but it did not happen so we must move on.
