Stephen McGee's release leaves Victor Butler and John Phillips as only survivors of Cowboys '09 draft class, aka The Dreadful Dozen.

2008 wont look much better next year when Felix and Jenkins are elsewhere

So would 2009 still be a bad draft if we had been able to get Max Unger if the Seahawks didn't pick him up two spots before our pick?

The 2009 draft was terrible by any stretch but trading for Roy Williams really didn't give that draft a chance to begin with.

All the good teams build through the draft, weve been terrible at drafting. As long as our GM is our owner i dont expect us to win anything.

I'm getting a little tired of people questioning Jerry's wisdom. He's the greatest man in pro sports, and if the last decade and a half doesn't prove that, nothing will!

this still sucks to this day.

Of the 16 draft picks for the Baltimore Ravens in 2008-2009, I see 5 picks that are still on the team. They did well with their 1st and 2nd round picks, and, after that....very little.

Hmnn...

I would counter that Flacco, Rice, Oher, etc. are better than anything that the Cowboys got out of the same years, and that they will be a key part of the Ravens team for some years to come.

This time next year, we may have no more than 1 guy (Butler or Phillips), if any, from 2009 on the team.

They got some key parts, and we got uninspired 1st rounders (Felix/Jenkins), spares and a whole lot of trash.

2008 wasn't bad.

Felix, one of the fastest and most elusive RBs we've had here in a very long time.

Mike Jenkins - was a Pro Bowl cornerback at one point.

Scandrick - average CB.

Tashard Choice - had a good first two seasons.

Wade... Houck...

I think they had way too much influence when it came to the draft.

To be fair some of those player are still in the NFL and some where productive.

Jason Williams LB played for Carolina before he hurt his ACL I think he is on the PUP to start the year because of it

At least we got three years out of Mcgee (nothing great but we got them)

Victor Butler solid role player

John Phillips a role player

Felix been productive when healthy but not lived up to 1st round pick

Mike Jenkins has been up and down including a Pro_bowl and a solid year last year.

Bennett was a bust that was held onto to long

Choice hey we got positive production out of him

Scandrick I say a slid role player

Erik Walden has been a Journeyman player but is still in the league

2009 was Bad 2008 was not near as bad as you make it out to be. Head coach had something to do with how some of this played out IMO he was way to soft

Uhh 2008 isn't bad. Marty B is starting for the Giants, Mike Jenkins is a starter in this league, Scandrick is our starting nickel corner, Tashard came out with a burst but has faded....still in the league and Felix puts up over 5 yards a carry. 2008 was a good free agent class. 2009 is dreadful. I knew it was dreadful when we claimed it to be a "special teams" draft.

There's this big misconception that everyone hits on their drafts. No. 2009 was terrible. That can't happen. But it happens more in this league then you think. Not giving this team a excuse just being realistic. For as bad as that 2009 draft was the Cowboys have hit on a lot of late round and undrafted free agents that make up for some terrible drafts.

don't you have to consider the running backs drafted after felix?

Observer bias perhaps. Rice was a great pickup, but I liked him in the draft anyway. Flacco's good. Oher has had issues, up and down seasons from what I have seen. But a good pick.

Jenkins started for most of his career. Myopia to think that's terrible. Felix was a consensus pick at that spot. Fischer was reported to have been targeting him, and picked Cris Johnson because he was gone at their pick.

Thing is, their hit rate is pretty much no different than the Cowboys, and they did it with a 1st and 2nd round pick we didn't have. Now, if you want to say the Roy Williams trade was a disaster, then that's eminently arguable.

So because there were better backs behind Felix that means we can't consider Felix a good point? He was a late round 1st round pick. Did the Chargers fail on drafting Phillip Rivers because they Roethlisberger up for him?

Say that again? We didn't have a chance because of the Roy Williams trade?

We had 12 picks that year. Some no chance, right there. A bad trade doesn't force you to make bad draft picks. That's a weak cop out to excuse the front office once again. They followed up a bad trade with a bad draft.

You could actually make the case that 2008 was one of the Cowboys' better drafts in the past six years.

Compare that with the 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 drafts.
