I vaguely remember that these are awarded based upon the number (and quality/original draft position) of free agents a team loses...is that right??

Projecting forward, if we assume certain players will not be resigned, are we looking at any possible compensatory picks??

Thanks!:suxjints: :suxjints:

We probably won't get any. Ken Hamlin and Leonard Davis going to the Pro Bowl lowers the chances for a good comp pick immensely. Otherwise, we may have gotten something for Al Johnson and Kenyon Coleman.

We may get something in the neighborhood of mr. irrelevant, but I doubt it.

Not just them but also fabini who played alot in Washington, ryan fowler in tenn. and al johnson in arizona.

I think we will get some sort of picks for those guys.

The comp picks are based on FAs signed compared to FAs lost the previous year. I don't think their performance determines the comp picks status. I thought they were always 7th round picks. Of course someone more keen in this arena will step forward and enlighten us with their knowledge. Good topic.

AdamJT13 hasn't been logged in for 15 hours, he's due on any minute now.

Not all FA's are accounted for but their is a formula used to issue the compensatory draft picks. I know it is based off of the preformance of the FA's that you braught in compared to the ones you let go.

And Im pretty sure some compensatory draft picks are in rounds 4-7 maybe into the third cause I know a couple of teams have had them before the 100th pick in the draft

Jason Fabini was released and Ryan Fowler was a restricted free agent, so they won't count. I already mentioned Al Johnson.

Nobody other than the NFL knows the exact formula, but it has to do with a few things, one of which is achievements. So making the Pro Bowl would make a difference if that's true. Others being playing time, contract, number of players lost vs those signed, etc.

I just prefer to label it as value in vs value out rather than keep up with all of that.

That sounds right. They have some formula for determining, which FAs qualify to be used and their value to the teams and in turn the compensation.

I missed johnson somehow in your post. Doh..

Fowler is listed in the media guide as leaving and coleman is not so, who knows how it works out.

in the guide it is officially listed as 2 players signed, hamlin and davis and 2 players lost...johnson and fowler. I guess I should have read that before I typed!!

So it looks like we wont get anything.

We lost a Johnson and signed a Johnson - I forgot about the signing of Brad Johnson... so it's 3 FAs in and 2 out.

Lowers the chances even more.

Lenard Davis signed a huge contract and we would have to of lost a big FA to balance that(like a Tony Romo or a T Newman). So chances of getting anything is 0%
