Turnovers were still pretty bad. Our defense had to bail us out from fumbles quite a few times last year. If our defense is slightly worse than last year, and our offense continues turnovers like this, we are looking at a losing record.

You guys really think that injuries were to blame? How many games did starters miss?

Those 4 that Romo missed just killed us, not that after he got back there wasn't other reason's as well, but Brad Johnson was just awful, along with believe it or not Kyle Kosier's injury hurt as it forced us to play Proctor more after Holland went down as well.

Kosier's injury hurt no doubt. But he was the only offensive lineman to miss a start. Romo missed three starts - only one more than the average starting QB missed last year. I just don't see any reason to expect to be luckier with injuries next year.

Flozell was hurt off and on with I think a back thing and something else can't remember- but considering his position and having Proctor beside him was a killer. That contributed to TR getting kneed in the back as I recall.
Overall our O-Line was a shadow of it's 07 performance.

For Me

1. Injuries
2. O-line getting tony killed
3. Turnovers

In order of reasons

Tony missed 3 games but did not seem himself even when he came back imo - he was still hurt for me

Both Flozell and Gurode were playing with one eye on Proctor, since he couldn't be counted on to hold his own. That made them sloppier on their own line duties. Flozell was both injured and subject to his usual deficit against fired up speed rushers.

Also, once it became apparant that Brad Johnson was a season killer, they rushed Romo back. He had to play, no matter what, or the Cowboys would not have had a chance. Of course, we know where that went.

Our problems last year weren't so much with injuries. We did get doubled up with injuries at a couple of positions like LG, CB (+ suspension), and at SS. The CB problems in particular hurt us early. We got doubled up at RB, too, but that turned out all right.

Romo's problems weren't just with missed games. He had the broken finger which led to a lot of fumbles and back/rib problems much of the year that hampered him obviously in our late games. It was frustrating to see him unable to convert on intermediate throws he made previously with his eyes closed.

That's not an excuse. Other teams were injured, too. Many worse than we were. Our depth wasn't as good as advertised, we didn't execute well with the players who were in there, and our OL played poorly. We hurt ourselves at key times and basically took an 11-5 team and played at a 9-7 level.

We may have more injuries next season, but hopefully they won't hit us deeply at single positions, or at QB. And hopefully our depth is better prepared to contribute this time around.

very high % of TR fumbles were lost--not only did our OL let Romo get bopped enough to fumble but they didn't even pay enough attention to recover a few:bang2:

That is a nasty stat.

If this doesn't stop, when Barber gets a year or two older and less likely to deliver the hits all he will have left is his reputation as a fumbler. Better get that fixed.

I remember Parcells using that has one of the excuses for not playing him as much when he was a younger player. He couldn't trust him. In his case, it was pass protection and protecting the rock...
