What hurts Dallas the most in 2009?

Lack of Leadership at Head Coach (Jerry Jones)

Camp CremePuff (Wade Phillips)

Offensive Play Calling (Jason Garrett)

Bad play at QB (Tony Romo)

Lack of Focus (Free Mary Jane)

OR

Just a lack of on the field talent (player personel)

...turnovers and stupid penalties.

I lay that squarely in front of Wade Phillips. Wade is Jerry's responsibility.

The buck has to stop somewhere.

I believe Parcells when he said "Stupid players make stupid mistakes." But I also believe "Stupid coaches have stupid teams."

Coaches don't coach penalties, but bad coaches don't coach out the tendency to make repeated penalties.

Too many lack of focus errors on this team. It's going to make it hard for the team to capitalize on it's talent and ability. That's Wade's fault.

Wade is useless. Should have been fired after last season.

Only thing holding dallas back is poor execution by the players. Plays are there for the taking but unforced mistakes by players have cost them.

I think you could make the argument that this teams worst enemy is indeed themselves.I think my current biggest problem with this team is it's lack of focus,I believe that lack of focus leads to some of the penalties and turnovers.

99% of the responsibility for the team's woes through the first five games is on the team itself. 1% can be placed on bad luck and worse officiating

Sure, it was an awful pass, but how often in the history of the NFL has an interception been made off a ball that bounces off the back heel of a player?

Granted, officials cut name stars some slack, but to illegally chuck a receiver off his route eighteen yards downfield (which also causes the receiver to overcorrect his route, leaving himself totally defenseless jumping for the ball out of position and speared in the ribs) should always be an automatic flag.

If it weren't for bad luck, this team wouldn't sometimes have any luck at all. Of course, tar-and-feathering a few officials would possibly change some of that ill-fortune in my opinion.

We had really good luck in 07, so karma is evening itself out IMO.

But you're right it's simply execution. Our players need to go out and play better and stop making mistakes.

The Cowboys have been their worst enemy for like three years now.

I thought this team would take strides to improve this year after all the "prima donna" and/or "character" types let go in the off season. It just appears like the team as a whole is going through the motions this year without any urgency, drive, or pride (with the exception of Brookings and Olshansky -- two great pick ups in the off season).

And I agree with the earlier poster -- Wade and staff should have been fired after the raping in Phily last year. This coaching staff seems to be one of the weakest in the league, except for special teams coach DeCamillis who has done a good job so far. The other coaches appear fat and happy, no drive or desire to do more...

It may be time to look at the team as a whole, and any player who has been here 5 years or more and not performing at a very high level should be on the chopping block after the season. And the coaching is terrible... Time for change.

That sounds more like 'rebuilding' than 'retooling'.

This is the correct answer right here.

All of these explain why we are 0-5.

Oh, wait, this explains why we are 1-4.

Or, I mean these are the reasons that we are 2-3.

Anyway the answer is, heck yea we are our own worst enemy.

If we don't give the Giants 4 TO's, we are 4-1 with our only loss to an undefeated team that is the surprise story of the 2009 NFL season.

Not bad to build on. We have warts, all teams do, but we just need to continue to bust our tails, work to get better, ... and hope that we can get that accomplished.

Losing to Denver, at Mile High, is not looking so terrible now. It would have been nice to win up there, but they are beating good teams, at home and on the road too.

Back to the original question, if we don't beat ourselves, yes, we will be hard to beat.

I would debate that, if Spencer had simply closed his hands an instant sooner on the touchdown pass from Orten to Moreno, we would be 5-0 under those circumstances.

True that.

We definately have a lot to work on, but if we had lost to two 1-3 or 2-2 teams by 17 - 24 points I would be looking forward with less optimism.

Then again I said the same thing during our string of losses to Balt., Pitts, NYG last season and we see where that got us.
