The 2009 Doak Walker Award recipient will be announced live on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards on Thursday, December 10.

The Award is named after three-time SMU All-American running back and 1948 Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker. Walker, who also punted, returned kicks and kicked extra points, led the Mustangs to two Southwest Conference Championships. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions and led the league in scoring his rookie year. During his six years with the Lions, he led the team to two NFL championships and was chosen All-Pro four times. Walker is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.

I've always had a great deal of pride in knowing 2 of the most prestigious awards in college football are named after Dallas natives.

I'm so pleased that Buckram made the list... for a little guy, he's been an absolute workhorse... it's a shame that UTEP hasn't put a better team around him...

too bad Price didnt use him more in the Texas game...he had almost all of their 49 yds.

I know the award will go to Ingram, since the mediots have been salivating over his every move since the start of the season.

My vote goes to Gerhart. He is the closest thing I have seen to John Riggins since John Riggins.
