Saw this in a tweet to Brian Broddus.

Only 14% of the players drafted in the 2009 draft are still with there original team. Not here to make any excuses for the Cowboys, but that's a very low number after 5 years.

2009 was a bad draft al the way around. in hind sight most teams would have been better off trading every pick for future picks

You know how they have the bell curve and standard of deviations. Well, for the 2009 draft, we're probably talking about a draft that was in a bad way about 4 standard deviations from the normal.

There was plenty of talent near the top, but we traded out for Roy Williams and kept trading down. 11 Pro Bowlers in the top 100. 3 were directly after where Dallas was picking in the 1st and another two were directly under where we traded out of the second. Hard to be right when you don't even make a pick. I mean yeah, it wasn't a good draft overall, but we could have done better with our 1st and 2nd round picks.

the 14% is kinda useless with out numbers from other drafts, after 5 years. For example, if only 17% of 2008 draft picks were with their original team this time last year, then this would not be that bad. Not to mention, by year 5, most players have hit free agency at least once.
