Am I being a homer but is the 2009 draft picks/ UFA's growing on me.. At first I was disapointed because none of my pet cats were drafted, But now it seems that Jerry and his crew know what they are doing. Mcgee, J Will, Brewster, B Will, Hamlin, Buehler, Phillips, Otree, Bright, Octavien. None of these guys will probably make canton. But we are younger and more talented..

As much as that draft got bashed by people everywhere, as it turns out, most of them could prove decent players. I for one am surprised so many of them are still on the team, after all, everyone said we reached for so many of them in the draft

Jerry never should have called that class a "special teams" draft. It made people think they were purely a bunch of ham-and-eggers with no talent.

At the time, our depth was questionable, so we needed an influx of young players to develop, and trading back a few times was the way we did it.

Of course the Roy trade took away a couple of our best picks, but that's not the fault of the guys who were drafted.

That draft got torn apart pretty good on this board back then.

I liked it at the time ... I liked the fact that they drafted a lot of high character, hard-working, team captain types.

I still think some of them have a good future (I really like Phillips, Butler, Brandon Williams, and have urged patience with McGee even well before his game against Miami).

But I look at Brewster (up close and in person at camp, and on TV) and I watch him move, and try to play, and I can't believe they thought he was a third-round talent. I like his effort, but my gosh.

And while I love Jason Williams' physical talent, he seems to at least once a game show a complete lack of "feel." I worry about his instincts to do this.
