I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but I've been reading alot of criticism of Jerry Jones and the front office over the amount of busts related to the 2009 draft class. Currently Dallas only has David Buehler, Brandon Williams, John Phillips, and Victor Butler I believe still on the team (Correct me if im wrong).

However, when you look at the draft itself. There werent really any notable players in this draft class, and it just might be the weakest draft since 91 or 92. So far there have only been 7 pro bowlers. They are:

1st rd Pick 13: OLB Brian Orakpo (Alternate both years)
1st rd Pick 15: OLB Brian Cushing (Jury still out on him after HGH Scandal)
1st rd Pick 21: C Alex Mack (2nd alternate in 2010)
1st rd Pick 22: WR Percy Harvin (Injury Risk, made PB due to Special Teams)
1st rd pick 26: OLB Clay Matthews (Only legitimate ALL PRO)
2nd rd pick 42: Jairus Byrd (9 ints rookie year/Injury prone 2010)
5th rd ick 140: Johnny Knox (Made PB due to KR/PR Jag)

Other notables from this draft are

Matt Stafford (Has only started a handful of games in 2 years)
Matt Sanchez
B.J. Raji
Malcolm Jenkins (Too slow for CB moved to safety)
Josh Freeman
Michael Oher
Hakeem Nicks (Injury Prone)
Kenny Britt (Character Issues)
Max Unger (Missed 2010)
Mike Wallace
Austin Collie
Arian Foster (Undrafted)

The rest of the guys taken in 2009 are pretty much jags much similar to what the cowboys drafted. Based on these findings, I dont really understand the sensationalizing of a failed 2009 draft class for Dallas, it seems to me that pretty much the entire league failed as well.

You have glazed over a LOT of guys that would be STARTING in Dallas right now. Now granted, we may not have been in position to draft them...but once we were without a first round pick...it was going to be tough. Then we traded out of the 2nd round. Which makes it even tougher. People are complaining that we should have at least been able to bring in adequate depth with 12 picks, and that is the big argument.

Stephen McGee will be our next (after Romo) Hall of Fame QB!

2009 draft was an EPIC win just for drafting him!

Raji made the NFL Top 100 Players as the 81st best player in the NFL so I'd say he has to be considered pretty good.

Yeah, which is why I had to make it a point to mention Raji, however he was a top 10 pick which would have made it extremely difficult for the Cowboys to draft him.

They have only played 2 seasons, but you have a bunch of outstanding players on that list. That "other notables" list can be merged with the top list. Many of those guys will almost surely make a Pro Bowl soon.

Also, you have left out several guys who may make the Pro Bowl within 2-4 years.
Eugene Monroe,
LeShon McCoy,
Jeremy Maclin,
Vonte Davis,
Sean Smith,
Shonn Green,
Louis Delmas,
Terrance Knighton,
Robert Brewster...oh wait..scratch that,
and many, many more.

Anyway, we've beaten the 2009 draft to a pulp and it's really time for us to look forward.
This year's (2011) draft looks real solid! Hopefully, going forward, we are better.
