Any idea how we compare to other teams with UDFA's? Seems like a remarkably high number.

Its puzzling to me how they find so many UDFA's yet it appears they're not as successful with drafted players

PS..Since threads turn into pissing matches so quickly, I feel the need to point out to whomever replies that this is not a gripe and simply an observation I find interesting and am curious as to why they're so good with UDFA's

I thought about making the 4 Special Teams players starters, but two Kickers as starters just galled me too much to do it.

Amazing, 18 players in a season and a half at the helm. 33 of our 53 since 2009.

Indeed.

Kyle Kosier is the only offensive starter not drafted or signed as a college free agent by the team.

The other 3 non-original Cowboys on offense are G Derrick Dockery (who might start this week), QB Jon Kitna and FB Tony Fiammetta.

So 23 of the 27 offensive players on the roster are original Cowboys.

On defense, 4 starters came from other clubs (it can be argued Abram Elam is one of our own because he made his first 53 here, but he signed with Miami out of college the year before that).

DE Kenyon Coleman, ILB Keith Brooking, FS Gerald Sensabaugh and Elam.

All of the back-ups on D are original Cowboys except DE Clifton Geathers.

So 19 of the 23 defensive players on the roster are original Cowboys.

On special teams, LS L.P. Ladouceur and P Mat McBriar both signed with other clubs as college free agents, but they never made season rosters before coming to Dallas.

Like Elam at safety, it'd be easy to call them originals, but I'm using the strict criteria of having been drafted or signed out of college by the Cowboys, so they don't qualify.

Kickers David Buehler and Dan Bailey, do.

So 2 of the 4 specialists are original Cowboys.

That's 44 originals (some will say 47) out of 53.

That's 83% (or 89% if you do want to count Elam, Ladouceur and McBriar).

The poseurs like to kvetch about the 2009 draft, like it will cause Brad Broaddas to invite them to Red Lobster or something. But the 2010 draft looks pretty bad too (if the 2009 draft is the baseline for bad drafting).

After one season, we can only retain four players from that 2010 draft? Really?

Either the 2010 draft was equally bad, or the 2009 draft isn't as disastrous as the poseurs say it is.

That might be it, I guess Garrett also had more say about him as the OC, Wade probably let him make that call.

There are a lot of good players on the team from the Phillips era if you ask me. I kinda figuered Jenkins play last year was a result of Wade's style and based on game 1, Ryan is going to get a lot more out of players with "effort" issues than Wade did. No way Jenkins plays through those injuries and keeps hitting Game 1 if Wade was still the coach.

Since the Phillip's era attitude has been corrected, I have to question why you think we'll lose because of him?
