How is 6-3/320 too small to play guard?

Yeah, Logan Mankins and Chris Snee would like to know. Steve Hutchinson and Jahri Evans are curious as well since they are all about that same size.

As usual, you have no clue what you are talking about.

I've only gotten through the letter C so far, but............

Mackenzy Burnadeau

Justin Blalock

Antoin Caldwell

Chris Chester

Plus throw Andy Levitre in there.

I have to leave for a few hours.

I can check D-Z later or you can just admit you have no clue what you are talking about.

Boren is 6-3/320 and, by your account, too small.

However, Mankins, who is 1 inch taller, but weighs 23 pounds less has enough size?

6-3 and under: Snee, Chris Chester, Ben Grubbs, Leroy Harris, Anthony Herrera, Brandon Moore, Doug Legursky, Chris Kemoeatu....I got tired of looking at that point.

Numerous players that were 6-4 or 6-5 and weighed roughly the same or less.

Maybe you don't like Boren. I'm not sure I'm a big fan although in the middle rounds, he is decent value.

However, your statement that he is too small was simply incorrect. He has adequate size to play guard in the NFL.

heres my list of Starting G's 6-3 am under

its really surprising

Gaints – C Snee 6-3 #320

no that I am a big hater on him - give me Boren if he shows he can play let him - let him prove me wrong -

are we going to draft him - I say no
because we already have our on Boren in our camp now

Phil Costa 6-3 #320 - An intelligent, versatile player who was the leader of the offensive line as a senior ... a hard-nosed player with good feet ... a two-year starter ... played mostly guard until his senior season when he started at center
played in 40 career games, including 30 starts (13 at RG/five at LG/12 at center) ... started the final 24 games of his career ... a two-time Academic All-ACC performer ... one of the strongest players on the team during his career ... owns the all-time record among Terps' offensive linemen in the clean (435 in 2008) and is second all-time in the vertical jump (35.5 inches in 2007) among offensive linemen ... also has the third-best strength index (748 in 2008) in school history (among offensive linemen).

Guard

Measurables: 6-4, 305, 33-inch arms

Key trait: Arm length is less important inside, where guards are asked to block in a closet. It’s more important to have lower-body thickness to anchor against the growing number of 310-pound defensive tackles.

Prototype: Logan Mankins (6-4, 307). New England, 1st round, 2005.
Exception: Jake Scott (6-5, 295). Indianapolis , 5th round, 2004

Center

Measurables: 6-3, 300, 32-inch arms

Key trait: Bulk is less important than athleticism. A center needs to pull, slide over to help the guard and also step out on the middle linebacker. But the center also needs some anchor against 3-4 defenses when a nose tackle is on his helmet.
Prototype: Nick Mangold (6-3½, 300). N.Y. Jets, 1st round, 2006.
Exception: Todd McClure (6-1, 289) Atlanta, 7th round, 1999

this what I go by

You missed the following............

Panthers - Mackenzy Bernadeau

Falcons - Justin Blalock

Steelers - Doug Legursky

There are some pretty good talent evaluators drafting a lot of 6-3 or shorter gurads. Someone better tell Ozzie Newsome along with the Steelers, Giants, Colts, KC and the Jags that 6-3 is too short to play guard.

Maybe you should think before you open your mouth.

What do you think the odds are that you are actually right?

I'd say pretty good

what makes you think your right did actually do the measurments ?

I just want to make sure I understand this.

A guard that is 6-3 is too small, but 6-4 is a prototype?

Let's use your list (assuming it is right). You have 19 starting guards at 6-3 or under. That means 30% of the NFL has guards that are too small to play in the NFL.

Included on that list are a 2 time Pro Bowler and All Pro in 2008 (Snee) and four time Pro Bowl/two time All Pro (Brian Waters) as well as starting guards on teams that had 6 of the top 7 NFL rushers last year (Titans, Jets, Jags, Vikes, Ravens and Packers)

You do realize there is a lot more to size than height, right? As pointed out earlier, Larry Allen was only 6-3. Too small to play in the NFL?

You've kind of painted yourself in a corner here. Your arguments don't make much sense.

what arguments - I said that is was surpriising to me so many puny guys are actaully playing G in the NFL

whats your point - besides thinking your superior to me

lmao

what can't take any bodies elses opinions

"just want to make sure I understand this"

well what I gather from you will never have the brains to understrand it

Let's use your list (assuming it is right).

ah checked the depth chart today - do you know how to do that ?

in fact I like my OG's to be over 6-5 but that just me

Mackenzy Bernadeau

Heighgt: 6-4

Weight:297

I guess you can't tell the difference between 6-4 and 6-3

I have seen Blalock listed as 6-4 on the team site

but keep on trying

FAIL

The link you posted doesn't work.

Just like your brain.

The links I posted show that Blaclock measured 6-3 at the Combine and Bernadeau measured 6-3 at his Pro Day.

Do you think the Scouts that measured them were interested in getting accurate measurements.

You've been dead wrong all the way around in this thread.

Admit it and learn to keep your mouth shut when you don't know what you are talking about.

First there is no benefit for being tall at guard. In fact a lower center of gravity would be a plus.

As for players I wouldn't mind wearing the star...possible 3-4 ends, a couple of Iowa DL Ballard 6' 5" 295 or Clayborn 6' 4" 285. Both would need to add some bulk but I can see both being 3 down players.
