For those in the know. I've read alot about Steven Weisnewski that hes technically sound but smallish. I recently looked at Rob Rang's top 50 and didn't even see Weisnewski but had Rodney Hudson, C, Florida State ranked in the 30's. Does anyone know the difference between these two and who would fit the Cowboys OL better ?

Rodney Hudson, C, Florida State vs Steven Weisnewski C. Penn State

In the PFW Top 100 List Weisnewski not even on the List and Hudson was in the 70's. WOW....I thought Weisnewski was rated in the 2nd Round but now I'm starting to wonder. This is the 2nd List I've seen that has Hudson rated much higher.

I think you mean "Stefen" Wisniewski. He is 6'3 313lbs. (combine results) He isn't exactly small. He could probably bulk up some more, but he isn't the greatest athlete. Meaning, pulling wouldn't be his strong suit. I think he will be a solid player in the league. Most people believe he is a 2nd round pick or the #2 center in the draft.

I've been saying for months now Weisnewski is not a good fit for Dallas. I saw him get owned by Florida and Alabama and played awful vs Iowa. Evertime he played NFL caliber talent he was killed. He is a technique finease player and can not handle power. He fits only a zone blocking scheme and not a power OL like Dallas.

As for Hudson, he's about the same but can handle power better than Weisnewski. Hudson gets lower and uses his legs to anchor vs power DL. Hudson best fit is a zone blocking scheme too.

Niether fit Dallas style. I say forget about C in this draft. Next years draft looks great at C, also at CB and ILB.

McSHay had him going 5th to undrafted.

I don;t understand the love for Weisnewski. Am I the only one on here thay has seen him play and get bulldozed over by three teams.

hoping for Weisnewski in the 2nd Round but now.....I'll Pass.....PERIOD. I just thought hes a guy that could move right in and start.

I don't believe Wisnieski will play Center in the NFL. I think he will be a Left Guard and I think he's going to be a pretty good one.

I honestly don't think we need to take a Center high. I think the kid out of Utah would be a very good lower round pick and then you have Gurode with Costa and a developmental player from this draft to work with as future options. I'm telling you, I really like Zane Taylor. I think he might make a roster.

I agree . i want to see how Costa develops like AOA and Brent a few year 2 guys that i think could take that next step.

If we are going to address center at all i dont want a pure Center type i want a swing G/C type like moffet

Then I think Taylor might be a guy you would like. He would have to get a little bigger and work on his technique a little bit but I like him a lot. He comes from a program that has done very well these last few years. He is massively strong, extremely tough and highly intelligent. He's made All WAC 4 years, All Academic and made the Deans List with a 3.85 GPA. He's not fast but he is very smart and very strong. He has 41 reps at 225. He has played LT, both Guard positions and Center for the Utes in his career. Missed just one game due to injury (knee). He would be a guy I would take a late flier on and feel pretty good about it.

I completely agree. I have also been saying the same, Wisniewski is technically sound but is a poor athlete who is better off in a zone scheme, not a power scheme that the Cowboys' run. Hudson is an even better pro zone prospect b/c at least he has athleticism and better anchor.

I feel similar with players like Tyron Smith, Nate Solder and Anthony Castonzo. These guys are better off in zone blocking schemes, not the power blocking scheme that Dallas currently runs.

telling me that I'm hoping that the Cowboys trade down to #14 with th Rams and select Gabe Carimi and pickup an extra 3rd Rounder. I just have this feeling in my gut (same feeling thats been right in the past) that years down the road Gabe Carimi will be a better NFL OL than Tyron Smith.
