First, major props for the Packers because they were the SB champions entering this year.

Having said that, what's the difference between the 2011 Packers and the 2007 Cowboys ? ( other than the obvious 2 more regular season victories )

The 2011 Packers have a ring on their fingers. The 2007 Cowboys? Not so much.

There is no comparison. One is a champion and the other is a choker.

What would you call getting spanked on your homefield after a first round bye if not choking? Oh wait, you think the Packers will be strolling around their locker room after getting their culos blasted saying "Atleast I'm a champ baby" :laugh2:

In overall quality the difference is negligible.

The main difference is that they got blown out by the Giants, while NYG barely scraped past us.

2007 Packers were better IMO. Obviously Rodgers is better than Romo, but everywhere else the 07 Cowboys were superior.

Hey, don't blast me for it. They have the hardware and the 2007 Cowboys did not. That isn't my fault for pointing it out. The OP asked for the difference, and that is one of them.

If this group of Packers never win again they can look back and will be remembered for last years sb. The 2007 Cowboys will be known for losing to a team that they beat twice in the regular season at home.

This.

I think what was worse on our end was that we had beaten the Giants TWICE that year and they come in and beat us when it matters.

I know Packers beat Giants this year but us being NFCE Rivals really hurt.

And I think our defense was a little better that year than the Packers this year.

We're talking about this years Packers, not last years. This years Packers lost a playoff game at home, I'm sorry, got blasted in a playoff game at home to a NY team they beat in the regular season. There's no difference between them and the 07 Cowboys. Both those teams were "supposed" to go the Super Bowl, and neither won a playoff game

Did the 2006 Cowboys win the SB? I must have missed it.

Both teams gave up a TD to the Giants with less than a minute to go before the half.

at least they have a ring.

i don't even remember what those things look like anymore.

It always feels like such a waste when a team squanders a great season and as a fan it is so tough to get back up again for the next because the regular season just seems meaningless. I know I havent watched regular season games the same way since 2007, because I keep thinking we'll just blow it in the playoffs any way.

So we're asking what the difference between 07 Dallas and any 1st round bye team who has lost is?

There are some remarkable similarities. That said, it's a hell of a lot easier to lose a game like that when you just won the Superbowl the year before.

Well technically the 2011 Packers don't have a ring on their finger. The 2010 Packers do though.

These Packers remind me more of the Patriots team that lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

Packers toyed with perfection and peaked too soon.

All year long, the Packers won by forcing turnovers, and not turning the ball over themselves. Today, it was just the opposite, with the predictable result.

In 2007, we passed the ball well, and stopped the pass on defense. The playoff game was just the opposite, with the predictable result.

Give credit to the Giants.

The best comparison of the 2011 Packers is to the 2008 Giants. Both teams snuck as a wildcard and went on to win the Super Bowl the previous year, and then had a dominating regular season and lost in the Divisional Round as the #1 seed.

So do you remember the 90's Cowboys that lost to the 49ers as losers? They were a different team than the ones that one 2 superbowls and then another one after that season or do you remember then for winning 3 out of 4 superbowls?

In historical context, Rodgers and company are hurting now (just as Emmitt,Troy, and Mike in SF) but if his career ended today he will still be know for doing the ultimate and that's winning the SB and being the superbowl MVP. Nothing can take that away, what will the 2007 Cowboys be know for?
