2011 Roster projection

I dont see how we can assume the signings of Sensy and Elam but no one at G and no upgrade at CB. Going into the season with Jenkins, Scan, Ball, Mccann, and Thomas is quite a gamble.

I agree. Good projection except at CB.

I don't think Ogletree will replace Sam Hurd. Ogletree is a training camp wonder only.

You think Marcus Spears is going to stay as a backup? That's crazy talk. Olshansky is set to make 3.3 million base. I would expect Spears to be seeking more than that.

There is a reason Jermey Pernell was on the roster over Brewster and it really didn't have anything to do with better ability, necessarily. Brewster was cut when they needed to make a roster move due to injury and they were able to get him on to the practice squad. Later on they were able to make roster moves that made an opening. Since Brewster was already safe on the practice squad it was a wise move to steal an athletic prospect from another practice squad.

Pernell is interesting. I wonder how much weight and strength he gained this offseason.

Even if he's making 8 million Newman is still the best cb on the team and isn't going anywhere.

Dallas' Salaries

____________

Salary Cap

I agree that Newman is probably not going anywhere. Something about him just bothers me. One year he had a physical confrontation with Campo on the sidelines, one year he was a tattle-tale when Pat Watkins did something wrong on the field, and last year he got into a shoving match with Sensabaugh. I just wonder if he is a Jason Garrett kind of player. Also, Stephen Jones appears to have more control each year and he really appears to dispise having overpaid players with or without a salary cap.

The salary info that I have seen lists Igor at 4.5 million base for 2011. It seems like we could get someone better for that price...possibly Spears; although, I think that Josh Brent, Ratliff and Bowen will be the 3 DL with the most playing time with either Brent or Ratliff getting significant snaps at DE.

I'm curious about Parnell. Anytime a teams puts a player on the 53 man roster at mid-season that does not play special teams, they must be really impressed with his potential.

Not a bad stab at it overall. A couple of things though. I don't see Newman or Davis leaving, and you have left a lot of inexperience covering the O-line.
Also, not sure we will be good with nothing but unprovens at WR behind the top 3, or that we will take up 3 of our practice squad spots on WR's.

1. Short on vets on offensive line.
2. No way we start the season with Scandrick and Jenkins as our corners.

There's enough smoke on this topic that there must be some fire. All I can say is how poorly Stephen Jones, et al. will have managed the cap if we have to let our best CB walk in a season where we have only four serviceable CBs. Especially when one of those 'serviceable' guys is a failed S convert and another had a dismal showing last year as a starter.

Even replacing Newman with a younger vet, there's no excuse other than mismanagement for our CB position to be in the straits it'd be in if we let Newman walk.

Sounds like Newman is attempting to be a leader. I don't see why Garrett wouldn't want that. Especially for a team that lacks leadership.

I'll give it a try.

TE John Phillips?
He listed him as a FB and misspelled his name.

He's also got too many DL and not enough OLBs. Nagy would most likely beat out any udfa center.

Oh, yes Brandon Williams has made 4 tackles. So he has made a play. ;) The guy blew out his knee as a rookie and was slow to get back into shape and Butler got most of the backup snaps.

Overall not bad. My only thing is, you have too many veterens being replaced. Are you doing this because the consensus on this board wants / complains about them, and the high salaries. Are the other players realy going to improve the team, and help with depth when injuries occur.

We lost too many of these type last year when JJ was trying to save $$$$.
I think it hurt us.

I am pretty sure that Gronk played too much to be PS eligible
