1) Peter Konz C

2) Jared Crick DE - Yet again we go after the undervalued/injured guy. We don't have anyone who is so good at DE to stop us from drafting another. Looks like Aaron Smith Jr.

3) Kevin Zeitler OG

4) Casey Hayward CB

5) Jerry Franklin ILB

6) Landon Walker OT

7) Camp body

I like it but for Crick, I'm not high on him, plus I think Heyward and Zeitler will move up

I think you might have to pick Zeitler in round 2 to get him.

I not that high on Crick with or without injury.

yea, zeitler's definitely a 2nd rounder. Love the Konz pick. If we can walk away w/ those two guys and sign deunta williams as a free agent, I'd do cartwheels.

I just thing Jerry Franklin is another B James

not enuf speed

First of all Franklin, is much, much faster than James.

Second of all he would be a back up behind Lee and Carter.

we will have two picks in the 6th, one being a conditional.

BTW, I would love to use a later pick to move back up in the 1st....I want Morris Claiborne and Peter Konz

I think Casey Hayward is going to go ahead of some of the more talked about CBs. He would be a steal in the 4th.

I don't know about Franklin, but in general, I'm against drafting slowish LBs even if they are great college players. In todays pass happy NFL, LBs must be good to great in coverage. We already have Orie Lemon and his 4.87 fourty on the practice squad.

I would trade all of the Cowboys drafts picks to get those 2 players. I think it is a safe bet that they will both be good to great.

Claiborne would have to fall to the Cowboys 1st round pick and then trade up for Konz.

Fourty is 4.7 or 4.52. Thats like saying someone is 6-3 or 5-9.

Well Sean Lee was 4.8 or 4.6, with a combine time of 4.71 and he turned out ok. I would wait on the combine, but Jerry will probably run in the 4.6 area pretty easily and hes already bigger than Lee was at that time. Probably worth the risk that late, in the 5th round.

Casey Hayward will be interesting, he can play, just don't think the speed is there for him to really move far up in the draft. He could always surprise in the combine, and if he does, he could move up significantly.

I can see you are really dialed in.

Have you ever watched a player run a 40 on campus with 15 scouts all timing him on their own stop watches? Have ever watched the NFL combine with the scouts timing players while sitting in the stands even though players are timed electronically by combine officials. Not all those people timing him are going to get the same exact time.

I'm just guessing those times came from Arkansas Junior Day.....if you know what that is.

I apologize, I did not intend to insult you personally. You appear to be one of the more informed posters on this site. I was just pointing out that the data had a really wide discrepancy. It appears that you got the info from NFLDraftScout. I believe that they do use Junior Day info as well as other methods to estimate the pre-combine forty times.

I will maintain that the wide discrepancy in the times minimizes the usefulness of the data; however, I guess you can say that if 4.7 is his absolute worst forty time, then he is indeed NOT slow.

This discussion made me curious to check some differences between official Combine and Pro Day data.

Von Miller: Combine 4.42, Pro Day 4.49, Diff=0.07

Akeem Ayers: Combine 4.81, Pro Day 4.7, Diff=0.11

Justin Houston: Combine 4.62, Pro Day 4.61, Diff=0.01

K.J. Wright: Combine 4.75, Pro Day 4.71, Diff=0.04

Mason Foster: Combine 4.75, Pro Day 4.74, Diff=0.01

Orie Lemon: Combine 4.87, Pro Day 4.87, Diff= 0.00
*Reported to be coming off Knee/Hamstring Injury

Sean Lee: Combine 4.71, Pro Day 4.60, Diff=0.11
*Lee had a knee injury. His Pro Day was 3 weeks after the combine. An improved forty time is expected.

Jerry Franklin (Estimate): High 4.7, Low 4.52, Diff=0.18

Any who....don't want to over analyze it.....he's a backup LB.

If Carter is a good as we think he is we are screwed with a Franklin on the field vs Carter/Lee.

Shopping for depth.....that is all.
