2012 Schedule is brutal

I'm hoping we do something with our O-line considering the rough schedule we have coming up. Defensively we need some upgrades as well. But O-line is first and foremost on my mind. It all looks pretty dang tough for a team coming off an 8-8 season.

We have the Steelers and Saints at home. Ravens, Falcons, Cam's Panthers away. Of course we all know we have the Iggles, World Champion G-men, and Foreskins at home and away.

We have the Bungles who have a ton of high round draft picks. They are already young and hungry at that. The Seahawks could be somewhat improved as well. We all saw how the Niners came out of nowhere.

What's y'alls take on next season's schedule? Or do you even care to look that far down the road?
Man I just hope we get a home game on opening night for once. We're gonna need to gain confidence early, if we do, those other teams will be more worried about us than we are about them.

if you are good enough you win, if you suck then you lose... who cares about what a schedule says

This exactly.

The schedule doesn't matter. It's what this team does to improve itself that matters.

How a schedule looks in Feb and how it plays out are quite different.

It seems like the talent level and the dynamic pretty much changes from year to year so I'm not to worried. We should find players who match up well vs. our opponents though. We need a physical defense and a physical offensive line if we're going to win.

stop being scared

we have great team even if we dont upgrade much
all the players will have a full off season with OTAs and TC
all the players will be familiar with the defense in year 2
we just need to sign a couple of back ups to fill in if someone goes down
re-sign our own guys including spencer, newman, kosier
garrett will instill his discipline and the team will be ready to go

i see 11-5 or 12-4

Are you being tongue-in-cheek with that response? Or are you serious? Just wondering. If you're being serious, then I hope you're right. Although Newman returning is highly unlikely.

I do believe with a full offseason, Garrett's first as the HC, we'll be better on all fronts.

I bring this up everytime in the schedule pre-release talk and seldom does anyone agree.......

But I've always viewed opening on the road as an advantage. Ideal matchup for me is opening on the road against one of our weaker opponents.

Every team gets 2-3 extra days for opening weekend which removes one of the negatives of playing on the road in the NFL. It helps "break up" the schedule in my mind. Certainly reduces the odds of having back to back road games more than once.

I hope we have an opening HOME game as well. I'll be going to the (home) season-opener regardless, I just want it to be the FIRST game of the season. The tailgating will be EPIC.

I think the Cowboys will continue the rebuilding process they started last year so I am not sure how much difference the schedule makes. Next year they should be better and even when they are stronger, if they have to worry about who they play, they are not yet ready for prime time.

it was sort of both

i hope we upgrade the talent
the schedule is what is it, it is brutal, but if we play good football we will have as good a chance as any

i may criticize the team but every game, i am hoping for a win just as bad as you do

Looking at the schedule to begin ... im going with my same prediction as last year. 7-9 and no playoffs ... Instead of having to play the weak NFC West (SF, AZ, SEA, STL) we get the always tough AFC Central (CLE with a new QB, CIN who will be better, BAL always tough, PITT predicting a down year). The only team we should be favored against is CLE. I just don't think at this time to see much of a change. Maybe we will be great in the offseason and fix the oline or the dline. But im not holding my breath.

Don't you mean AFC NORTH?

Any one or more of those teams could tank.......including us. An injury or two away from a .500 team.

I completely disagree with predicting anything until after Thanksgiving and even with that, it's difficult to do, IMO.

I agree. Always hard to know what teams will rise and what teams will fall from one season to the next. Right now on paper this is a tough schedule reality may be totally different.

It is an advantage for 31 other teams. Not us!

Teams get fired up when america's team comes to town on opening night, they look at it as a bigger motivation than any other nfl team. We're 0-2 last 2 years on opening night and both were away. I pray for a home opener.

Are you serious? You really think playing us week one at home matters? Trust me when I tell you that any team and it's fans will no more jacked to play us week one as they would week two.

Little secret I thought I'd share with you, don't tell anyone else. This rebuilding process you speak of, it started about 51 yrs ago and hopefully never ends.

But if believing we're in some super special rebuliding process helps temper your expectations and or insulates you from possible dissapointment, have at it.

All I see is that when we make the playoffs we would have earned it.
