In 2012 we only scored 137 points our first 7 games. And that's with defense providing 8 turnovers after 7 games.
In 2018, we scored 140 points in 7 games. And the defense only has 6 turnovers.

In 2012, we had Dez, Witt, Miles and Romo in their prime. Dez had over 1380 yards, Witt over 1030, and Austin over 940 yards in 2012. Yet we still scored less points in first 7 games than this year.

BTW, we were 3-4 also in 2012 after 7 games.

JG's offense always had issues with scoring. People used to blame Romo in 2012 like they are blaming Dak this year. QBs aren't the main problem with the offense. It's the crappy scheme.

I’d like to see where they ranked for average ppg in 2012 and where they were last year and where they currently are now. I’m too lazy and drinking to go and see for myself. But I’d bet they were still in the top 10 in 2012, and I’m pretty sure they were not that last year, nor will they be there this year. This has been a problem dating back to last year as well. The Jags game so far is the outlier here, and it inflates the number this year.

We only played 7 games so far. In order to do an apple to apple comparison, you can only compare the first 7 games. I can sit here and say we will be a top 10 offense at the end of the year with Cooper but what's the point.

BTW we were 15th in scoring in 2012. Middle of the pack even with three stud receivers and Romo as the QB.

Interesting. What was our record in 2012? 8-8? I don't remember and didn't feel like using google.

This is actually a very solid thread. Hopefully Dak isn't the issue because then we know there's hope.

That's just not true. Look up the scoring under Romo's career. There were some pretty good years.

2008 we were 18th, 2009 14th, 2011 and 2012 we were 15th in scoring. Then Callahan changed the offense in 2013 and we ran a more balanced offense in 2013 and 2014 and our scoring offense improved to 5.

In 2007 we were 2nd but that offense had Parcells/Sprano influence and hasn't fully transitioned to JG's system. If you go and watch it, we were running plays we ran in 2006.

Ironically in 2010, we were 7th in scoring when Romo only played 6 games.

You can easily look at the last 16 games played going back to last year. We get it you’re a Dak fan and you’re gonna defend him till the cows come home. Good luck with that.

I've defended Romo in 2012 when people were saying the same crap about him. If you are just hating on Dak for hate sake, that's your choice. But the truth is, even Romo had issues with scoring in this crappy offense. Even with three 1000yard receivers.

Romo’s offensive line was horrible that year.

Dak’s offensive line this season, while it hasn’t been great, is better than what Romo had that year.

But it’s true. That Romo has far better receiving options that season and I believe Demarco Murray who wasn’t a bad runnning back in his own right.

What they both had, was the same crappy head coach though. For sure.

I’m an SEC and a Gator fan I’ve seen
Plenty of **** errr Dak. Was not good in college and has clearly regressed. You can bury your head in the sand, but I’ll pass. Dude avoids the middle of the field like the plague. Said he didn’t need a # 1 wr claims to be “elite” lol please the sooner he and this lame coaching staff are gone the better. What team could he start on? The bills? The cards? Who else? Dude isn’t that good and he leave a lot to be desired as a thrower of the football. Not to mention his pocket presence is horrible.

2012 versions of T. Smith and Doug Free were better than 2018 T.Smith and L. Collins. Kyle Kosier and C.Will is about the same. Looney and Zack are much better than Costa and Holland.

But the receivers are night and day between 2012 Dez, Austin and Witt and what we have now and of course Romo was a much better QB than Dak. Yet they scored less points in 7 games.

Common theme here is JG and his crappy scheme.

If it's all just Dak, why couldn't Romo, Witt, Dez, and Austin in their prime couldn't score more points in first 7 games in 2012?

In 2012 they ended up with 23 ppg average. We are at 20 ppg right now. Not a huge difference. It's not that crazy to say we can end the season with 23 ppg with Cooper in the line up.

I’d be interested in seeing where the team ranked in YPG. If I remember correctly, the issues for a few years were red zone offense
