I think it's the opposite.
Cowboy fans tend to overhype our own players because many lack knowledge of players around the league.

As for me, I've never been accused of bashing our own. I've even had some notorious haters call me a homer.

I was just pointing out my opinion on the Carolina front 7 in 2013.
Jmo....but I thought they were VERY good.

In fact, that defense ended up being second best in the entire league that year ratings wise just behind Seattle.
They were bunched right there with Seattle in scoring defense too....and there was a huge gap between Carolina/Seattle and the the rest of the league.

Call me crazy...but I think that's pretty good.

Oh no I definitely agree, their defense was scary good that year. Their crap offense was their undoing. I'm just saying from a personnel breakdown stand point that we aren't far off from them this year at all

They were stacked at DT though. Cole is a big boy (330) and more of a run stuffer but still had a sack. And his backup had 3 sacks. And Star was huge too. Both their starting DTs were in the 320-330 range. It's hard to block guys like that. Opens up room for their two beast DEs. Crawford is a little guy. Has the body of a DE. They got 8.5 combined sacks from four very big DTs. We have one guy with pass rush ability and he's 40 pounds lighter than Carolina's average DT. Then again, Carolina's D-line was designed differently. Marinelli prefers "rushmen." But I think Carolina had a huge line (even Hardy is the size of our DTs) and everyone had pass rush ability. Not to mention, Luke at MLB. He's what fans wished Lee would be and he's 5 years younger.

2013 NFL Scoring Defense
  1. Seattle...14.4..ppg
  2. Carolina...15.1
  3. San Francisco...17
  4. Big drop off..

2013 NFL Total Defense
  1. Seattle
  2. Carolina
  3. Cincy
  4. New Orleans
  5. San Francisco
Btw, Dallas was 32nd that year. 8-8 was a semi miracle

Put it this, I'll be thrilled if this years Dallas Defense compares to that beast of a D that Carolina had in 2013.
Knock on wood!

If Lawrence can progress, Crawford and continue to get better, and we can keep Lee, McClain, and Hardy on the field...it could be fun!

Scary fun...fun for us, scary for other teams and their fans. Well, maybe scary fun is a bit over the top. But yes, would be a lot of fun seeing a pass rush, as well as some better secondary coverage because of that.
